Wingnuts say: Die you hussies!

Vaccine for cervical cancer sparks debate

Updated: 7:15 a.m. ET Oct. 31, 2005
A new vaccine that protects against cervical cancer has set up a clash between health advocates who want to use the shots aggressively to prevent thousands of malignancies and social conservatives who say immunizing teenagers could encourage sexual activity.

<snip>

"Some people have raised the issue of whether this vaccine may be sending an overall message to teenagers that, 'We expect you to be sexually active,'" said Reginald Finger, a doctor trained in public health who served as a medical analyst for Focus on the Family before being appointed to the ACIP in 2003, in a telephone interview.

10. Yes they do. And it scares the hell out of me.
Have you noticed that everywhere the US has undercover and overt wars, women and children always lose?

5. So the Christ-O-Crats would
rather lose a young virgin daughter to cancer than have a sinful, non-virgin,cancer-immunized daughter live to sin some more?

7. First the Post, now MSNBC
Watch and learn as the echo chamber goes to work legitimizing the fundies position- and spreading their propaganda.

This is an old story that was limited to a few extremists back when Katha Pollitt wrote about it LAST MAY.

8. I am
I am asking this question with the utmost honestly . . .

How many people, including Christians (I am a Christian), do not have sex until they get married? Shouldn't we agree that most people are going to have sex before their, errr, ummm, mid to late 20s? It's not such a horrible thing if you're educated properly.

I'm not saying we should be slaves to our sex drives but people need to realize that young men and women are going to be active in this day and age. Hell, people were probably always active but it is more accepted now.

14. I'll make them a deal
I will not stand in their way of not getting a vaccine, or one for their kids. If they or their kids want to continue to be exposed, so be it. I will not interfere.

If any fundamentalist wacko interferes with my kids getting one. Well, I better leave it at that. This is a public board.

15. Uh -- come, again?
I fucking cannot stand these loonies. They've crowed my entire life about left-wing authoritarians, and then they get in the hot seat, and they're fucking religious fascists. Let the market decide, you bass-ackwards fucksticks. Keep your fairytale domain over your own privates.
