A terrible reporter (Jeff Gannon's sister?) just asked if Durbin if they did this because they were trying to change the subject because they don't like Alito or they don't want to cut spending. A true media whore.

edit to add:

Durbin says this isn't stopping the Judiciary Committee from moving forward on the nomination, and that he is meeting with Alito tomorrow.

Durbin also said that Reid's staff informed Frist's staff of Reid's intentions when the debate started. In other words: Frist is lying. (What's new?)
