Clinton's remarks signaled the Reid action.
Clinton, in his speech last week, implored Dem Senators and Representatives to stand up to what the Repukes are trying to do to this country, or "find something else to do."

I believe that his remarks gave permission to the Senate Dems to make this move.

Thanks, Bill, and God Bless Harry Reid!!!

7. May be but my guess is that Bush's answer to the Democrat in the Senate
concerning Iraq (having somebody anwer: we are looking into it) was probably enough for them to react.

Great news anyway.

27. There you go. And Reid is also inspiring to the Senators he is leading.
Let's get the House going in the same direction, and we're getting somewhere!

15. Not at all. They need support. And Clinton represents the "moderate"
wing of the party. This signal from Clinton, and the support is important to the Dems in the Senate.

Now let's hope he backs it up with a statement of support in the next couple of days he does just that.

Dems must present a unified, strong front.

4. Why take anything away from Harry Reid?
I like Bill Clinton, but this is Harry Reid's day.

11. It is the Democratic Senators'' s day
This happened just after the luncheon and I imagine that was the subject of discussion and at least a vast majority of them signed on that.

16. Not taking away from Reid at all. But the Clinton remarks are related,
and they supported just this sort of action on Reid's part.

20. It's just likely that Reid asked Clinton to say what he did to help

support what he was planning to do.

I don't think Reid depends on Clinton to come up with strategy.

Strategy is his forte.

I'm not saying Reid did ask Clinton, but it seems just as likely as the other way around.

24. You could be right, and this is what I was trying to get at.
They seem to be on the same page, and are probably strategizing together. This is a GOOD thing.

5. clinton might as well take credit for the action . . . .
the repukes are going to blame him anyway and then revert to the "you democrats all hate bush" strategy.

6. Why do they need
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 04:04 PM by Burning Water
permission? didn't they get that when we elected them??

Do Democratic Senators have any balls? The question almost answers itself, although lately I've seen faint signs that one or two of them might remember what they are.

think so.

23. Do Democratic Senators have any balls?
Answer: They do today! WTG Dems.

I've been saying for the longest that it's time to stop being polite to repukes!

The fear of confronting them just plays into their plans - Clinton is/was right about that, too.

10. Please! Give 'em Hell Harry Reid is not looking to Bill Clinton for clues.
This is total conjecture and/or wishful thinking on your part.

Bill Clinton was just feeding red meat to the base while Hillary's plan for Iraq is the same as Bush's--except more "Maggie Thatcher" like-- calling for more troops, 100,000 to be exact (80,000 Army and 20,000 Marines).

prelude to Reid's action.

And Reid is doing a fantastic job.

I love Clinton and all, but I don't get the permission statement. Clinton's statement was a good one though, put up or shut.

28. I also think Fitz had a lot to do with it. When asked
if the war was going to be covered under his investigation, he said something to the effect that that wasn't his job. To me he insinuated that it should be someone's job, i.e. Congress.

Amen.
