2. Okay, change "secret session" to "closed session" - BUT |
|
the point is this:
Last year, the Repukes brought up a bill that nobody had time to read, but were expected to vote on it IMMEDIATELY.
The Dems pulled a (legal) procedural maneuver which allowed them to hold up the vote while they actually got a look at the bill. This involved them leaving the floor, but leaving one Dem on the floor to keep the Repukes from hammering it through without an objection.
The (I forget the term) whatever brought up the motion to continue with the vote, and before his final word was completely uttered, brought down the gavel as if there were no objections. The lone Dem on the floor could not voice the objection before the gavel came down.
Meanwhile, the Repukes had called the police to arrest the Dems in the room (a library) on the charge that the Repukes "had reserved that room" and that the Dems were "trespassing".
The police came, and decided that it was an internal matter.
This was what I was alluding to.

thanks, I'm glad I came back and read that.
I guess we have to be glad they still obey any rules at all now, don't we.
