How will YOU feel IF........ |
|
How will you feel if you find out yesterday's "shutdown" by Reid has led to backroom negotiations, smoothing the way for Alito's nomination in exchange for information about the lead-up to the war?
I'm not saying this is what is happening. I have no idea if it is happening, or not. (I do have a definite opinion that it should NOT be happening, but...) I just know that the Democrats do not ALWAYS negotiate with the Republican Death Cult/Party, in our best interests, and listening to this being discussed on "Morning Sedition" just now made me wonder.
Will you all feel duped? Disappointed? Angry? ---- What?
Personally, I'd like to feel able to enjoy seeing our Party act like they have spines without waiting to see what they felt they had to trade away after their brash behavior to get what they wanted in the first place. I do not want Alito on the court for another 25-35 years. I want to find out, and feel I have every right to know publicly, what was done to make the American people get onboard with a war that should never have taken place as a reaction to 9/11. What lies were told in order to gain public support for this illegal, immoral, and unnecessary war that has killed and maimed thousands of our own men and women, as well as thousands upon thousands of Iraqi civilians? I think I deserve to know the answers without having the Democratic leadership trading away their right to oppose Alito on my behalf.
So.... what are you thinking about this? I'd really like to know your feelings.

6. I am hopeful that I can get on with my life again... |

I haven't quilted in a year, I struggle to read a good book just to read it, I don't search for new recipes, I don't listen to music as much as I used. I want to feel as if the people in the government are doing their jobs. Truly doing their jobs, working as hard as we are, and we work hard!
Harry Reid and Patrick, beautiful man, Fitzgerald make me feel hopeful. So the question is can we trust them to work as hard as we do? I think so. I hope so!

3. I was thrilled to see them get so "uppity" |
|
but I have to admit I was a bit concerned at the lack of sunshine. Do you know if they have a court reporter taking the transcript, or is it completely off the record?

Boxer said any Senator who talks about it can be expelled from the Senate. (She said that on Daily Show last night.)

7. The Democrats just approved the extension of the Patriot Act. They |

approved another $50 billion for Iraq. even though * refuses to tell anyone where the money is going. Halliburton has no-bid contracts to clean up LA and MS hurricane debris, even though local companies say they could have done it cheaper.
I've been angry for 25 years. Everytime there is a glimmer of hope for the Democrats, they do something stupid. They did stop the assault on SS. Three cheers for that. But now the repubs want to change pension laws in favor of the corporations and change tax laws to squeeze more money out of the middle class - what's left of it.

8. GOP reactions are telling |

Frist came out yelping and calling names like a whipped pup. I suspect the Dems really dressed them down in there.

Will you all feel duped? Disappointed? Angry?
But if it comes to pass as you say, that is how I'll feel. And sad. Sad for all of us. Sad anyone could look at the facts, say such fine words, have an ability to make an impact on the situation, and then to still go along with this nomination. Just sad.
But with this judge, it's mostly about minority. Women and homosexuals and minorities are his targets, and unfortunately, most Americans will trade that away. Especially on womens issues, always less important. I think it's quite possible you're right. It will be a shame, and a very hurtful thing for our nation. But, what's new, right?
In our nation, they want us to believe someone has to lose out, for most us to be okay. We need to sacrifice. Guess who gets sacrificed?
It's my thought that, if they do what they say, the dems will lose a lot of the momentum they gained yesterday. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they give a damn about us. Or not.
