"Frontrunner scrutiny" is another way of saying media "hit list.." . |

In an example of the media's Mafioso tendencies these days is the latest buzzword "scrutiny of the frontrunner." What that really means is the equivalent of whose turn it is to be taken down, as Tony Soprano might say.
The media has become so arrogent they don't even bother to hide it anymore. They say it with pride. They've offed Dean, now it's Kerry's turn for "the treatment."
It seems to escape the meme pool that the media should be giving serious investigative coverage of all candidates, both of their positions and their backgrounds. Not picking frontrunners to slime and ignoring the rest.
But instead they consentrate on repeating the same "horse race" coverage endlessly. So, in that echo chamber, they can't walk and chew gum at the same time. So they concentrate of sliming the perceived "frontrunner" and then once he's been pulled down they go after their next annointed frontrunner.
There's also a lot of hypocracy in this. The real frontrunner is GWB. But he remains immune to "the treatment."

2. And the broadcast media use the PUBLIC airwaves, cable TV uses the PUBLIC |

rights-of-way to run their cables, and both accepted an obligation to serve the PUBLIC interest, rather than a partisan corporate agenda.
Maybe the Dems should start revoking broadcast licenses and cable permits when they get back in power; if the corporate media wants to shill for the Rethugs & big business, let them do it without OUR airwaves and without OUR cable rights-of-way.
Yes, they have freedom of speech, but nobody has a right to OUR airwaves & cable rights-of-way.
P.S: Some criminal investigations might well be in order -- the obvious collusion between the media and the Rethugs turns the media's hit-man coverage of the Dems into massive & illegal corporate campaign contributions to the Rethugs.
The Rethugs and the corporate Rethug media hijacked our democracy; it's time they lost the use of our airwaves & rights-of-way, and it's time some of these bums went to PRISON.
