Two days before election of the next governor of New Jersey and during the break for Desperate Housewives two Doug Forrestor ads ran nearly back-to-back.
First the silent black background/white letters of Jon Corzine's ex-wife blasting him as a betrayer of trust personally and as a prospective governor after comparing the glowing review that Doug Forrestor's wife gave him ("Doug never let his family down and he won't let yours down either.")
Second ad: The real thing, Mrs. Doug Forrestor, claiming that Jon Corzine lied, lied about Doug not be pro-life (he is, she claims), not being pro-stem cell research (he is, she claims), etc. And Jon Corzine is giving "more of the same" (whatever that means).
First, re the second ad, to paraphrase Priscilla Mullins, why don't you say it yourself Doug?! Why didn't you say something during the last debate last night? Why is this new information?
Next, going after the Desperate Housewives demographic is desperate with those choice of ads. Knowing that this show attracts women between the ages of 25 and 49, you ran ads that attacked Jon Corzine as a husband, you appealed to the viewers' emotionalism, and you hope that they will take their outrage out in the voting booths throughout New Jersey on Tuesday and give vengeance in behalf of the ex-Mrs. Jon Corzine. Plus, how clever! Putting your wife out there to give your message. She's attractive, seems nice, and yes, believable to an extent. You would feel uneasy about calling her a liar. So, if she's isn't a liar, she must be telling the truth, right? And who wouldn't be able to identify with such a nice woman?
Oh Doug, you ARE desperate!!!! And don't expect the "desperate housewives" in New Jersey to put you into the statehouse.
