1. I don't think any church should be tax exempt.

Tax (the fuck out of) the Churches ...
Tax the businesses owned by the churches.

The Meek shall inherit Nothing.

Cheers

3. His sermon was inappropriate
but not surprisingly, the IRS leaves alone those preachers who tell congregants at the pulpit that God chose George W. Bush for the presidency (Oh, but of course they can vote for whoever they want, wink, wink, nod, nod).

4. But NewJersey/Catholic priest turned over pulpit to anti-abortion group
There was a DU thread just yesterday that at his Sunday morning mass, anti-abortion reps/officers were handing out baby bottles to be returned the following week filled with money for their group. Then instead of the priest giving a homily/ sermon, he announced there would be a guest speaker, and the chair of some New Jersey anti-abortion group gave a talk and then 2 of her male miinions roled out a big screen TV in front of the altar for a 15 minute anti-abortion film! I hope the DU poster turns this church and group into the IRS also. It's not just a matter of a difference of opinion on a moral issue, but basically campaigning to raise money for a political issue.

5. It's called Facsism.
This is utter BULLSHIT that only liberal churches are being targeted.

7. IRS Notice to Church
Obviously every Department in this Administration is full of Republicans or people biased toward Bush. Why has the IRS not notified ALL of the Religious Right organizations who have contributed millions to this administration and passed out lists at election time to give to their membership to take with them to the polls. How are they getting away with all of this? I was an Election Judge and saw two other Election Judges take such lists into the booth with them; they didn't know these people on the list from "Adam" but they voted for them anyway because their Church gave them the list! They gave up one of the most precious freedoms allowed in this country! What ignorance! Am I not familiar with loopholes in the IRS laws that are protecting churches of Robertson, Kennedy, et al?

Yes, selectivism, cronyism, etc. reveal the agenda, and just where the old boys network is, and who it is attached to.

8. That is such bullshit.
The fundie Christian Fellowships stepped way over the line during the election. The Applegate Christian Fellowship in southern Oregon was Bush Central. They had voter registration as part of their worship service. Here's a sermon about praying for * two weeks before the election:

Send that to the IRS

10. Odd, the speedy reaction to an antiwar sermon, and none to the above.
Odd.

"Odd" is a euphemism.

What a bunch of unpatriotic rabble-rousers :sarcasm:

Nobel Peace Prizes versus BushCo. Look at the tools used against the peacemakers by the moneymakers.
