Poll question: Why did we (Democrats) Win yesterday? |
|
Why did we (Democrats) Win so many elections yesterday?
I have to say that, after the 2000, 2002 and 2004 election, I had lost almost complete confidence in ALL elections in this country, (that hasn't changed as far as Georgia goes), so this has restored a bit of hope for me, but why do you think we won?

2. All of the above ... but I would also add this: |

Howard Dean's no nonsense, "don't be afraid to speak the truth" message is beginning to influence the way the Dem candidates approach a campaign. :-)
Dean has got the Dems playing offense instead of always playing defense.

3. One possibility is that the Rethugs underestimated... |
|
the numbers of votes they'd have to steal to win, and were unprepared to conceal a theft as big as it would have required.
But I don't think we really know yet, and we may never.

7. I think the biggest reason is the republicans put no serious |
|
effort into stealing the election in Virginia. They thought they would win on the vote (big surprise, people don't like republicans) and they did not want to get caught doctoring vote counts on a governor's race. The next Congressional elections should be interesting.

10. you left out an obvious possibility in your poll ... |
|
there really are two possible answers with all shades of gray in between ...
your poll only included one of the two possibilities ...
one possibility, as you pointed out, is that this election was "nationalized" ... the national mood is sick and tired of failed republican policies ... there's no denying this is the direction of the political tide ... it does not necessarily mean, however, that that's what caused yesterday's results ...
the other possibility, under the heading of "all politics is local", could be as simple as the candidates who won were more appealing and ran better campaigns than their opponents ...
we would all like to believe the national mood played a huge role in what happened yesterday; i haven't seen much evidence to either support or reject that view ...

13. Well, good, that IS why I always include an "Other" choice. I guess... |
|
...I'm just a lot more jaded than you are. Keep hope alive, or what ever.
I live in Georgia, Diebold "counts" my vote. Or not.

Why did Bloomberg win? IMO..only because enough New Yorkers didn't view him as a Republican.

that those who control the elections used this year to throw us a bone. What I mean is they gave us these elections as a way to be sure Repubs win next year. Then Diebold et al can point to this year and claim the elections aren't fixed. "If they were fixed, Democrats wouldn't have won in 2005."
Yeah, paranoid but hey
