Media drooling over McCain's Stay a tougher course in Iraq speech today.
Let's make sure to compare how much airtime the media gives McCain for submitting a plan that says STAY in Iraq but be tougher occupiers, with Kerry's Georgetown speech two weeks ago where he submitted a withdrawal plan.

Shouldn't be too difficult to figure out which.....Every time a Dem has spoken supportively of Kerry's plan the past couple weeks they have gotten cut off by the host.

Something tells me that McCain's stay the course speech will just WOW his sycophant media.

1. Yep....
McCain is the media's pick for 2008. It aggravates me no end how much attention they give him.

2. I don't see how McCain could win in this anti-war environment

McCain's 'plan' is to increase troop levels in Iraq and escalate the prosecution of this war. Americans, I believe, are moving further and further away from the view that we are 'winning' there, can 'win', and should even have gone in the first place.

I think the anti-war candidate, or the one with a plan to wind-down the US occupation will be way more attractive to the public.

3. They should be until the media distills who that person is.

And media has a great way of nodding their heads for anything that comes out of McCain's mouth, and don't hear the ultraconservative positions because of his "affable" demeanor. Kinda like a more mischievous Ronald Reagan who they have also elevated to sainthood by now.

4. McCain is a fingernail and the world is his chalkboard
Watching him the other night on the Daily Show made me cringe.

6. I watched his performance
he must have been reading a speech prepared for him by the administration because he looked and sounded bored. I didn't find it convincing at all. Even MSNBC cut away and summarized it insted of showing it. I found the whole thing wierd.

7. The Media likes McCain because he isn't predictable
While everyone else is trying to find a way to pull troops from Iraq, McCain is on the opposite side.

This is totally consistent with his view since the beginning.

Probably this stand will harm his Presidential ambitions, but it's what he believes.

What a concept.

8. The problem is that it's not just the media
I did some election day leaving vot reminders Tuesday, the incredably brilliant man (not snark, he really is) angered by corruption - was for Dean (primaries) then (Kerry), but he said you know McCain is a not corrupted.

Thanks to DU, I mentioned Keating 5 and the cablevision conflict of interest (which also shows how sincere his campaign finance work was).

What I don't get is that Kerry fits the pattern of both a hero and being pretty incorruptible - but the media never shows that; McCain who has taken his share of short cuts is golden by them. I really don't understand.

9. McCain will have "one-on-one" with Anderson Cooper tonight at 10PM.
Cooper will, no doubt, be awed. Too bad Aaron Brown is gone. He did know hot to ask the tough question, now and then.
