House leaders pull spending cuts bill
WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republican leaders scuttled a vote Thursday on a $51 billion budget-cut package in the face of a revolt by lawmakers over scaling back Medicaid, food stamp and student loan programs.

The development was a major setback for the GOP on Capitol Hill and for President Bush, who has made cuts to benefit programs a central pillar in his budget plan.

The decision by GOP leaders came despite a big concession to moderates Wednesday, when the leaders dropped provisions to open the Arctic National Refuge to oil and gas exploration, as well as a plan allowing states to lift a moratorium on oil drilling off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.

"We weren't quite ready to go to the floor," Majority Leader Roy Blunt, R-Missouri, said five hours after recessing the House for closed-door meetings aimed a picking up votes from wavering Republicans

2. They are in total disarray and that's all in plain sight now
They can't hide their tricks and screwups as readily, fumbling the ball yet again, this time when everybody's watching.

Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 05:57 PM by Blaze Diem
Steal from the poor and give to the rich..isn't that how George figgers things??
Now what's he gonna do..with poll numbers equal to the "freezing" mark on the outdoor thermometer..
Even his tantrums aren't being paid much attention anymore..Where's his wife..er ah, his momma er ah, hmm, ya where's Condi when Georgie needs a safe lap to rest his little head upon?

Exactly where IS Condi lately..sure have kept her outta public view.
Keeping her distance from "tanking george" I guess. Wouldn't be wise for her to be next to George, with her own Presidential run in the not so distant future.

Standing anywhere near GW anymore surely puts one's political credibility in the toilet doesn't it?
C'mon Condi show your face and come give your boy Georgie a big hug for the cameras!!

Thanks for this post William769..very refreshing to read at the end of my work day.

Dubya may just as well go to Crawford and live out the remaining lonely days of his pretzeldency.
Writings on the wall George.

Thanks
Blaze

7. Yes..and well they should!!
Spineless, treasonous bunch of criminals..

Truely righteous day..may this wonderful & refreshing momentum carry on through the years..

Thanks for nothing GW Bush..thanks for nothing..Now GO AWAY while we salvage our great AMERICA.

May they ALL be indicted and held accountable..
I say in lieu of imprisonment they should all be fined for the billions they've stolen from our Nation..may they all work for Walmart someday..leave them penniless.
