Gov. Mark Warner launches National PAC. Forward Together PAC!!!

A Little Truth Goes a Long Way

I think a little bit of truth telling could go a long way. I think most Americans, regardless of party, are tired of spin. They want somebody who’s going to be straight with them. Even if it’s a hard truth to hear. We have an opportunity as Democrats to reclaim the mantle of fiscal responsibility.

In Washington right now, the people in charge think they can spend their way out of everything. What they did was spend us right out of the biggest surplus in our nation’s history, under Bill Clinton, and turned it into our nation’s largest deficit. And now they want us to trust them with Social Security.

The costs of this record deficit are real, and we’re paying them now. Our children will be paying them later. And that doesn’t sit well with my values or yours. Now, imagine for a moment what the pundits would say — what Fox News would say — if that was the record of a Democratic administration!

We see in Washington an administration that I believe has the wrong set of priorities. We see a focus on privatizing Social Security, when 45 million Americans go without any health care whatsoever, and it’s Medicaid that’s going to bankrupt the states.

We see a program with a great name — No Child Left Behind — and a noble goal to honestly identify and track the achievement gaps among our children. But not enough focus on remediation for the kids at the bottom of the gap — and not enough money to meet the mandates. And yet we’re supposed to be able to compete with India and China and the rest of the world.

It’s time for some straight talk, some good ideas, and some folks who can see a little farther down the road. America can do better. I believe it with all my heart.

5. Clark started his in 2004 and helped Kerry/Edwards through it
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 05:08 PM by Tom Rinaldo
So I don't know if you can chalk is up as only being for a Presidential run. Clark's been using it to talk about issues and help other Democrats. In fact WesPAC/Securing America is having it's annual meeting in Washington D.C. tomorrow.
http://securingamerica.com/

I am sure there will be more.

On edit: I meant there will surely be more PACS, though I'm sure WesPAC will have more annual meetings also, lol.

And Congratulations to Warner on launching his PAC.

Where did this Warnermania start from? What exactly did he say/do that should inspire DU? (in 3 sentences or less, not websites)

The recent tidal wave was caused by Time Kaine's (Mark Warners Lt. Gov) come from behind decisive victory in VA a week ago. Since then the media has been paying very close attention to Governor Warner. His approval #'s in Virginia are nothing short of amazing (74% Approval) and his record is possibly the best of any Governors in the country. He was named one of Americas 5 Best Governors by TIME magaizine just yesterday.

When you cant bash the man you bash the publication who praises the man.

Well, if your not happy with TIME... He was also named the public official of the year by the nonpartisan publication "Governing Magazine".

22. yeah, for their usual fundraising.
Are all PAC's national? I guess they must be, though the idea of people contributing to local races that don't affect them kinda bothers me.

10. I know Wisconsin well enough to know he would do very well up here.
Wisconsin loves practical guys. We are not fans of ideology as a collective state. We have our extremes in the state between a large liberal and a large conservative group, but collectively we like people who have common sense solutions to real problems.

To those who call Warner an Al From lacky, what is your response? If we nominate Warner he will be a force to be reckoned with.

It would have been closer IMHO if that had not been on there.

20. Wasn't this the Warner who just said a few days ago that Dems
shouldn't re-argue the entry into the Iraq war? In other words..."get over it", "move on", etc, and all those other DLC type 'business as usual' platitudes?

If it is, don't want nothing to do with him.

23. The exact quote is
"I think we ought to FOCUS again how we finish the job, not go back and refight how we got there in the first place."

A far cry from "get over it" or "move on." From what I have heard, he isn't asking anyone to stop analyzing how we got there, he is saying should focus on getting the hell out of there. I agree with that.

28. I think Warner will rock in the primary...
He has an awful lot going for him!

<-- Governor Warner & Senator Kerry :)

I understand the hesitation by many this early out though.. Look at the last election.. it took Iowa before Kerry started rockin' and rollin'!!

Lots of time.. but Governor Warner is looking good!!
