"Richard Armitage isn't a political guy ..." and other lies
You've heard it already, and you'll hear it over and over today.

They'll say that Armitage may be the source for Woodward. Then they'll say "he's not one of the pro-war crowd in the White House," or words to that effect.

LIARS.

He was one of the signatories to the letter from PNAC in 1998 to President Clinton demanding an invasion of Iraq THEN.

1. He's was POS during 9/11 hearing, unprepared and joking around
I didn't know anything about Armitage before the 9/11 hearing where he filled in incompetently for Condie, but I quickly developed a very bad impression after he admitted being unprepared and hastily called to substitute for her while he joked around with the panel about watching sports the night before or some such garbage, very inappropriate. He struck me as just another foot soldier covering his ass while being an enabler for the Bush crime family.

2. Even though he was at State, he wasn't Powell's guy.
Armitage is one of the Rummy-Wolfy guys, and has been a long time.

6. Actually, Powell referred to him as his "white son"
http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/politics/armitage_SS.html

<snip>

in a 1995 interview with "The Washington Post", Colin Powell referred to Armitage as his "white son." This, notwithstanding the fact that the 6 foot, balding, power-lifter, now 56, can still bench press 300 or more pounds and reportedly "enjoys killing."

William Tyree, Special Forces Veteran who has provided much reliable information and documentation to FTW in the past said, "Armitage used to 'sit ambush' on the trails in Laos and Cambodia. He liked it. Now when Powell, 'the dove,' sits down at a table with Armitage 'the killer' beside him the message will be that Armitage can reach across the table and deal with the other party on the spot." That message will not go unheard.

4. Some info on Armitage
from this site

http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/politics/armitage_SS.html

<snip>

...been investigated by President Reagan's Commission on Organized Crime (1984) for alleged links to gambling and prostitution...

<snip>

Armitage has already begun work at the State Department and is deeply involved in negotiations over a US spy plane recently captured by the Chinese government.

<snip>

A Vietnam veteran and graduate of Annapolis, Armitage's roots have been thoroughly intertwined with the likes of CIA veteran Ted Shackley, Richard Secord, Heine Aderholt, Elliot Abrams, Dewey Clarridge, Edwin Wilson and Tom Clines. All of these men have been directly linked to CIA covert operations, the drug trade, the abandonment of U.S. prisoners of War after Vietnam and/or Iran-Contra. Armitage has also been routinely discussed in FTW as a Bush-era covert functionary who has been linked to covert operations, drug smuggling and the expansion of organized crime operations in Russia, Central Asia and the Far East.

A bit more at the link.

9. But they'll never say that
They never do. Only once, on Nightline, has any media member actually said the Project for the New American Century.

Armitage also used to be involved here.
