What's this "WE" shit relative to cutting and running
Had another pleasant little tete-a-tete with a local lunatic this morning. He said we shouldn't cut and run from iraq like "Murtha" suggests because it would just have us wasting the lives of those who have died. I asked him who "we" was, do you have a deployed Marine in your pocket? I asked him if he ever served in the military. "Not yet!" Not fucking yet. Its always that answer, its as if its programmed. (If a liberal asks you if you have served in the military, answer boldly, NOT YET.) I then told him it was COLONEL MURTHA to him. I said if he insisted on showing no respect to a man in uniform one was available in Ohio. I then asked him how many more soldiers must be killed so we won't waste the lives of those already killed. End of conversation. My job is easy.

1. Thank you, BossHog!
You told him like it is. I liked the line referring to the Bumpd guy in Ohio.

2. Ok, you made me laugh today, BOSSHOG!
Do you have a deployed Marine in your pocket??

Call or stop by your local recruiting station and pick up a few pamphlets for the little turd! The other thing that you can do, seeing as you are one of us former uniformed types, is get a few calling cards from the recruiters, and offer to hand them out if you meet any likely prospects. The recruiters are glad to get any help they can!

Of course, the odds that these chickenhawks would actually use the card to do anything other than pick their teeth is rather remote, but hey, it's worth a shot!

9. The amazing Genesis of my adventure
He approached me because I have a base sticker on my truck (ergo I'm a fellow raving right wing lunatic.) It was like, hey old buddy how bout them damn dems last week. I got a glove compartment full of Army business cards. I got a good connection at the Army Recruiting Office 30 miles away but I'm doing a piss poor job of getting them any warm bodies. The recruiters really appreciate the help, specially from an old fart.

I'd like to have a rational conversation about issues but in November 2002 I was labeled a coward because I dared suggest we might not want to go to Iraq. The button on me they push is very sensitive; not much pressure is needed to set me off. Meanwhile more of our kids are dying in Iraq as we stay the course.

You have a great Thanksgiving my fellow American.

12. Right back atcha...and know that you are not alone!!
I have four neighbors who also served in close proximity to my home--WW2, Korea, Vietnam and a reservist who missed all the "fun." The three rifle toting sad sacks are on the same page as we are, didn't think it was smart to go in at all, and want the kids home now! The retired reservist, who got incredibly lucky in avoiding any significant active time at all, is a "stay the course" asshole.

He won't ever be invited to a friendly poker game, needless to say!

3. I prefer the phrase "retreat and regroup" to "cut and run"
The first phrase sounds like a military maneuver, the second phrase describes a bush strategy to avoid responsibility.

4. what's funny is Murtha isn't advocating just leaving
he's talking about redeployment and fast reactionary forces. He has several suggestions and a plan. The only person to ever propose to just up and leave was Duncan Hunter. And, he did it as a joke to try and make Dems and Jack Murtha look bad. He has a kid over there and he still was joking around, playing cute with the lives of our troops. I bet your local lunatic doesn't even know what Jack Murtha proposed. Not all Republicans are stupid, but damn, you get guys like that and it makes you wonder just how dumb half of our country is.

A post in the 0200 hour? And still going.

You been up all night BOSSHOG?

I do not get out and about anymore so I do not get to share your type of adventure. But I did spend some time at the VA Hospital in Buffalo on Monday. I saw the old and the sick and the amputees from wars past and sprinkled among us are a few young faces from which childhood has gone and the look of them is one of surprise and humiliation to find their young and once innocent selves among the wounded and sick of forgotten wars.

Somehow I could not raise the courage to approach them in their loneliness and welcome them to my world. What could I say? What would they say?

I will think about it and maybe next time I will-welcome them.

8. Hello 180
I can hardly bare to go into a VA Hospital, but I do. I spent a lot of time at the Old Sailors Home in Biloxi but they all evacuated to DC because of the Hurricane. Just go chat with them. I can listen to an "old" veteran tell me tales all day long. Hell, they might learn something.

I wasn't up last night. Was there a bosshog post at 0200? I'd like to check that out. I'm an early to bed early to rise kinda guy.

Had our first frost this morning and my old knees are bitching at me.

14. Oh. I am in error then
We have had lots of snow with a major snow incoming off mighty Lake Erie starting tomorrow morning.

My blood thiner is way out of balance-now I am off to the clinic with my wife in tow for her flu shot. Probably reduce the Warfarin intake for me too (I hope).

Take care of those knees-they are handy things to have.

I had a Friend (Wells, in my book) that I think spent some time in that Sailors home a few years back.

6. Nice comeback Mr Hogg!!
I notice that almost to a person, those who think this war is a good idea have never been in or really around the military. And in many cases they are women. That's something I really don't get.

10. Great response Bosshog.
I'm an old Navy fart from the '60s - pisses me off when I see these fat pasty-faced neocons who have no idea about military service, blithely sending thousands of Americans off to die along with God only knows how many other humans.

11. Thanks Shipmate
One of the most incorrect stereotypes in the universe is that a person in uniform must be a conservative. Having to pull dead teamates out of a blown up barracks will make a liberal out of you real fast. Thanks for your service Shipmate. We are free to pursue our constitutional liberties because of citizens like you. Sometimes we just don't take the time say thank you.

And have a Great Thanksgiving.

16. BOSSHOG, I always enjoy your posts. I'm a Navy vet and I have
the following stickers on my car:

"George W: Portrait of an American Chickenhawk"

and

"Veteran Against Iraq War"

I am just waiting for the day when some chickenhawk, know-it-all rethuglican wants to start shooting his mouth off.

Bring it on!!

17. Hello Shipmate
I don't have any bumper stickers on my ole truck except a base sticker and "Retired Navy"; that one gives me God Like status in south Mississippi. I saw one the other day I would like to have: Look Hon!, another prolife war supporter.

The great thing about chatting with a chickenhawk is that it doesn't take much energy or thought.

Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate. And thanks from one wussy liberal to another for doing all that supporting and defending stuff.

18. I would reply
"What's this 'we' shit!" and tell the asshole that I didn't send them, I didn't agree with the decision to send them, I still think it was a war crime to send them and I will not be complicite in war crimes.

I would say, I didn't vote for the chimp, I worked against the chimp and if that fascist wants to ruin the world, he'll have to do it without my help or support.

I'm not included in this bullshit "we" crap.

YOU sent them and you have to live with it.

19. typical, isn't it

Socialize the liabilities/losses, privatize the profits.

It's so predictable in their views about everything.

The 'what do you tell the last man to die for a mistake' line is lethal stuff.

20. I keep enlistment forms in my work satchel
Wing nuts tend to shut up when I pull one out.

"Here ya go, let me get my pen out and I can also drop this off for you if you're so supportive of the Iraq invasion. Or if you want, just dictate, I'll fill it out and you can sign it"

Usually they think of something they're supposed to be doing, awful quickly, and take off.

with a bush supporter I offered him a ride to the Army Recruiting Office. You'd thought I told him I just set his house on fire. They do get busy don't they?
