Do you think the terrorists had plans to hit us again after 9/11 ?
The Republicans point with pride to the fact that we have not been hit again since 9/11. They say we are fighting them over there and that is why they have not hit us again over here? Do you believe that? Or does that sound like a mess of happy horseshit to you?

In my opinion, the terrorists wanted to hit us one time real hard. They wanted revenge for whatever we had done to them in the last couple of decades. They will always consider themselves victors for what they did on 9/11.

But, Bush and his minions, after being humiliated by a few terrorists, while they were preaching and yelling to the world that we would do as we damn well please because we were the only superpower left, were not prepared for what happened to us on 9/11. Why did it have to happen on their watch? They were Republicans. They were the defenders of liberty. This couldn't happen. But it did.

However, I do not believe the terrorists attacked with intentions of starting a world war. But that may have been the results of that fateful day? They got in a very lucky hit that has been proven not so lucky to anybody involved.

1. Even after it happened, I figured it would be 5+ years before something
else. Hell, they are still getting a LOT of mileage off this one! Good for at least another 2-3 years.

IOW, watch your ass in 2007-2008.

but if you ask me, they don't ever need to hit us again. Using terrorism as an excuse to crap all over the Constitution, Bush, with the complicity of a cowed and uninfomed citizenry, has damaged the core of our democracy more than Al Qaeda could ever do with all the explosives in the world.

5. Look at it this way:
Everybody in the Intelligence Community KNOWS that there are sleeper cells here in North America, and that it's a fair guess that there are as many, if not more, Al Qaida operatives "over here" than "over there".

The Administration has absolutely no idea how to combat the kind of enemy they're facing. They are completely ill-equipped to wage war against invisible foes. This is becomming Vietnam II.

If the terrorists wanted to hit the US again, there's nothing stopping them. The fact is that 9/11 was undoubtedly a very expensive operation to carry out, and logistically very complex. Ultimately, it accomplished everything it was designed to do; create terror, destruction and paranoia "over here", and demonstrate the extent of their power globally and in the ME. They won't do it again until either of those accomplishments need to be refreshed.

19. we are such scared little pussies, they can literally phone it in
Call in a bomb threat or leave a "suspicious package" and the terrorists can shut down an airport, or anything else from the comfort of their living room.

The terrorists won. The Bush administration LET them win.

Really now? Oh, you must mean the ones that were brought over by elements of our OWN government. Sure, those 'sleeper cells'.

7. No, i thought they accomplished what they wanted to accomplish.
They sent our economy into a tail spin, worked on our collective psyche, and are going to bleed us to death (like Russia in Afghanistan)with our insane 'war on terrorism," and they have successfully divided this nation into factions that will be every bit as truculent as the north and south during the Civil War. Instead of examining ourselves, our policies, our motives and our actions, we have been thrust, shocked, and awed into a morass from which we are likely not going to recover in two generations.

The "terrorists" never have to attack us again on our own home ground. They will now have US military and citizens and allies all over the world to attack.

8. Not really - they shot ther wad - many years in the planning for that one
But just about now - or in the next two years may be another attack planned of large magnitude. "Planned" is the operative word - I do think we have become more vigilant in some areas and doubt the original attackers could now do their horrific deeds inside the USA. All bets are off for outside our country as far as I prognosticate

9. Accordingly, the big problem was the Military in Saudi.
We moved our Air Bases out of Saudi right after that. Did that make those terrorist happy? Who knows? I do think there are more terrorist and different groups, not associated with each other, now than on 911.

It is a cluster fuck with everyone fighting one another, while we try like hell to steal Iraqis oil. junior never in his wildest dreams thought he'd be in this position. He's damn if he does and damned if he don't.

11. The Bush Crime Syndicate are the terrorists, and yes, they plan to hit us
again. The fantasy of 19 Muslim "suicide terrorists" is bullshit made up by the White House.

12. It doesn't appear that suicide bombs are that difficult
to make and wear and it hasn't happened here yet, so I have to wonder about the whole thing.

That whole "why do they hate us?" meme? Sometimes you have to ask just who is doing the hate.

Frankly, I don't know and I guess I never will.

Edited on Fri Nov-25-05 10:08 PM by WinkyDink
All the video cameras in this country, even before 9/11 (as in your local 7-11), and NOT ONE PHOTO of ANY of the accused boarding ANY of the 4 involved planes??
ANOTHER "pristine" bit of phony evidence (Atta's passport)?
Money made on the airlines' stocks?
Coincidental (HA!) "war-games", overseen by Cheney?
Newly-discovered connections to Abramoff?

Und so veiter.

15. I'll take "happy horseshit" for $10, Alex.
We still do not know who was really responsible for 9/11. It is unlikely that, at that time, there was some well-coordinated, worldwide, system of "terrorist cells"--as the * administration has always claimed.

"Terrorism" is a crime problem, not a national defense problem. That's more or less what John Kerry said--he was, of course, vilified for that--and I agree with him.

18. Both sides hit the jackpot with 9/11.
The neocons got the "catastrophic event" they needed to ram through their pre-arranged plans (Iraq War etc).

Al-Qaeda got a massive PR stunt on American soil and was allowed to look a lot more powerful than they actually were.

The Iraq War has also given both sides what they want - the neocons get massive profits and Al-Qaeda gets a massive recruiting drive.
