I just wrote the Cincinnati Enquirer about Jean Schmidt |
|
I don't know if the letter will get published (perhaps some Ohio UUer will keep an eye out for me), but this is what I wrote.
Down here in Alabama we have a saying, “Thank God for Mississippi.” Whenever we get new statistics showing Alabama at the bottom of the nation in individual income, health care, or education, we just say, “Thank God for Mississipppi” because our neighbor to the west is almost always keeping us from being Number 50.
When an Alabama politician embarrasses us with asinine comments, we just say, “Thank God for Mississippi” because there will always be a Mississippi politician who will come up with something even more asinine.
Now that Rep. Jean Schmidt has made a fool of herself with her disgraceful slurs against Rep. John Murtha, we in Alabama can now proudly say, “Thank God for Mississippi and Southern Ohio.”

As an ex-Buckeye who really believed that Ohio would "go blue" and put Kerry in the White House, I agree on all counts.
But since my Puke family of Catholics and most of western Ohio also helped to re-select Bush and save themselves from the "queers" all in the same SUV excursion, ASFAIC you could drop the "Southern" Ohio qualification.
