Why Does Bush Seem to be on the Campaign Trail?
Is he this excited about the immigration issue? Or is the Rove strategy to literally get out on the stump to get his approval ratings back up?

Is it working? More importantly, should/can we counter this with a campaign of our own?

3. That's all he knows how to do--campaign
He doesn't know how to govern so he turns every issue into a campaign. He's a moron.

8. That's all true, and its emblematic
Much of Right-wing rhetoric, from WMDs in Iraq to Creationism in public schools, is driven entirely in "campaign" mode. Very little logic or science or reason makes it into the discussion, and instead they rely on a charismatic (or, in Dubya's case, pseudocharismatic) figurehead to draw the masses into the fold.

It's a fiction that disintegrates under even the least scrutiny, yet our noble media have done nothing in more than five years.

10. Exactly
I've never followed politics like I have since 2000. But I really don't remember Clinton or even Bush I campaigning all 4 years or 8 years in office. Yes there is a campaign time and often even in the mid term elections the President is busy trying to help the House or the Senate in their elections. But with Bush it seems like it has been non-stop campaigning. You campaign to get elected not to get your poll numbers back up. The way you do that is you actually work and work with people in both parties... it is called politics. And politics is actually a good thing.

15. I guess Reagan did this too, in a way. He took his issues directly
to the people, but it was usually with prime time press conferences, which were effective for him.

They are not effective for deer-in-the-headlights Bush.

16. I didn't know that about Reagan
maybe that is why Arnold is doing what he is doing in CA. Because Reagan was successful with this method in CA he assumes he could do the same.

11. He is not a President. He is a prop and a mouthpiece
There can't be anyone, less the 35% who think he does no wrong, who actually believe this guy is capable of working out the details and problems that face all of us everyday. Is there? Who out there is left who thinks he works hard to get himself well-versed in world issues? He is a slacker know-nothing who can only be sent around the country to do what he does even worse than run the country, which is speak.

21. That's all he and Fatass Rove know how to do.
Incidentally, I just found this heartwarming article on Rove:

http://www.ronsuskind.com/newsite/articles/archives/000032.html

Read it; you're gonna love it. Especially when you get to the part where Pigboy is heard saying, "We're gonna fuck him!"
