3. A few more details
From today's Cincy Enquirer:

Tuesday, November 29, 2005
Coleman quitting race for governor

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Mayor Michael Coleman will drop out of the Democratic race for governor, beset by family problems and faced with the challenge of running Ohio’s largest city, a spokesman said Tuesday.

The decision leaves U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland of Lisbon as the lone major Democrat in the campaign to succeed Republican Bob Taft, who cannot run again next year because of term limits.

Coleman planned to announce his decision at a news conference later Tuesday at City Hall, campaign spokesman Steve Campbell said....

5. Right - they have it wired, we have no chance. Let's just roll over & die
So much easier than coming up with a winning strategy...

7. So, if "Ultra-Christian" (TM) Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro loses
in the Repuke primary, is he going to open up the code for inspection?

8. It's not either/or
I don't think anyone is arguing that we should stop working on getting Democrats elected (in Ohio and nationwide), but until the voting machine code is looked at how do any of us know for sure that our votes are being counted accurately?

We can have the greatest strategy and get all our people to the polls, but if we can't accurately audit the results what good does it do?

12. Doomed. DOOMED I tell you.
Nah. I don't think we should even have poll watchers. What good would it do? Or maybe make the margin too big to steal. What's the use?

DOOMED!!!!! (collapses in grief)

15. Doomed if OHIO Doesnt Do Some SERIOUS THEATRICAL PROTEST
My idea is an OHIO TEA PARTY. petition of people who say they wont pay state taxes until their right to have their vote counted is restored. No taxation without representation.

Dudes, you guys need media attention BIG TIME! This problem isnt going to fix itself and Blackwell and the RNC have proven that they will hinder any ordinary legal method of fixing it.

Get creative!

6. What the Conyers
Report found was that the the problems with Ohio voting had more to do with suppression tactics more than the voting machines themselves.

But I also agree with the guy who had post #5 that what do you guys who scream voting machines want to do. Just shrivel up and die? Honestly, I think those who constantly scream voting machines are using it as an excuse to not work hard saying my votes aren't counted anyway.

11. Columbus, then Cleveland, then Cincinnati...as a matter of fact
Columbus is the 15th largest city in the US. Cleveland is like 35th or 36th, and Cincinnati does not get into the top 50 at all.

13. Isn't it up to the individual counties as to the voting machinery they use
I've never understood why democratically run counties "choose" these machines. I live in a solid blue county in Maryland where they've also gone to touch screen. There are NO repubs in charge in my county. We used punch cards before which I found perfectly fine....you just had to check they were completely punched. I never understood how people couldn't figure them out. Because you can find democratic districts all over the country that have "chosen" these diebold machines, it does seem to water down the fraud issues.
