2. That is so sad what happened there in your state.
Did you hear the spring meeting will be held in New Orleans in April?

He was very good on Leno tonight.

The government failed your state. I will never forget the scenes from there, and I will never forgive this administration for failing you guys.

10. Well, I think it will be in the Sheraton, not sure.
It is on the river? It is non-union, but the DNC got a waiver from the unions to have their meeting there because of the circumstances.

11. Here is an article.
http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051129/NEWS01/511290337/1002/NEWS

NEW ORLEANS -- The Democratic National Committee will bring about 400 people to New Orleans for its first meeting of 2006 to help rebuild the area devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Chairman Howard Dean said Monday.

The meeting will be April 20-22, the weekend of the French Quarter Festival.

"I think that was the earliest we could get a hotel to give us a contract," Dean said in a teleconference.

"We are deeply committed to the resurgence of New Orleans. And we've been looking for ways to help in tangible ways."

The committee had planned to hold the meeting outside Washington, D.C., but hadn't decided where, Dean said. After Katrina, "we wanted to make a statement about the Democrats' beliefs that New Orleans will come back."

The group usually uses only union hotels but got a special dispensation from labor officials to book the downtown Sheraton, he said. "They gave us a full pass on this one."

The Sheraton was the only full-service hotel that was reserving rooms and could handle a convention that large, Dean said.

The convention will be one of the earliest since the storm virtually shut down the city."

13. Did you lose your home?
And is that really your bodyguard? Or are you pulling our legs?

He is cute but stiff. Did you lose your belongings in Katrina?

I get sick inside everytime I think of what happened there.

14. Yes, I lost my house...No, he's not my bodyguard
That was a joke. I wouldn't joke about losing all my stuff. I lived in the Broadmoor neighborhood of New Orleans. We got 30 inches of water in our house. Insurance says it was %50+ flooded, the city says it was only %34 damaged. who really knows?

15. How terribly sad.
I think the worldview of a lot of people changed after Katrina hit the Gulf coast. Seeing those things, and knowing the way the government handled things there was a turning point for our country.

When the 3 hurricanes hit us last year, it was life-altering. This was several states away, and it still hit us just as hard. It showed the nation that if you have a national disaster, then you can just get by on your own.

So sorry that happened. And hey, it would have great to have a cute bodyguard like that. :-)
