Bush ignores shouted Iraq question while pimping "bright" economy
Bush, faced with the lowest approval ratings of his presidency, went to the White House Rose Garden to welcome a Labor Department report showing nonfarm payrolls had grown by 215,000 last month, the strongest increase since July. “Our economy continues to gain strength and momentum,” the president said.

“We have every reason to be optimistic about our economic future,” Bush said.

“When you think about the news that’s come in, the jobs report, the recent report on strong economic growth, low inflation, strong productivity, lower gasoline prices, a strong housing market, increases in consumer confidence and business investment. Our economic horizon is as bright as its been in a long time,” he added.

Bush ignored a shouted question about a military program that planted favorable stories in Iraqi media. Instead, he focused all of his brief remarks — lasting just 2 1/2 minutes — on the economy. The U.S. economy is “as bright as it’s been for some time,” Bush said.

2. One of the WH reporters said Shrub's advisors have worked
very hard to put some dicipline in convincing him NEVER to answer shouted out questions.

I suspect that's true, but I think it's because they can't trust him to answer anything without putting his foot in his mouth...AGAIN!

9. Personally, I think that every time Bush opens his mouth
it is to change feet.

Seriously, they realize that he is at his absolute worst when he tries to come with an answer off the top of his head. First of all, he has to pretend that he knows what the questioner is talking about and then he has to pretend that he has an answer. Without a teleprompter, the man is damn near inarticulate.

18. ....and then junior always sez, "I'm glad you ask that question"
then starts talking about his agenda, while ignoring the question.

23. the unmitigated gall of these guys in the Bush administration
Rove gets caught lying to the president, the press secretary, the media, the public, and the prosecutor. But he's still running things.

27. Hey, how come Fitzgerald hasn't supoenaed little Scotty?
Little Scotty has material evidence: he says he personally spoke to Rove and Libby, and that they personally denied that they had anything to do with leaking Valerie Plame's CIA status.

Little Scotty should give testimony on exactly what Rove and Libby told him, to see if what they told him jibes with other statements they've given, such as their statements under oath.

15. Craig Crawford just brought this up on Olbermann...
Said he thought it was peculiar that Bush knew about the 10 fatalities, but chose to ignore them and talk only about the rosy economy today..

16. lower gas prices? measured against what?
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 09:14 PM by flordehinojos
we used to fill the tank for our 1991 honda for about $10.00
NOW it takes $23.50 to fill the same tank.

Strong housing market? The housing market here in South Florida is beginning to go in a slump after the Wilma storm.

Increases in consumer confidence? What does that mean? A neighbor who was laid off after an injury has run out their insurance time and must now COBRA FOR $536 a month. A friend who took a buy out retirement package is without insurance because of high cobra payments as well.

Another neighbor says .... there'll be nothing under the tree this year...this are REALLY BAD, she says.

So, what is Bush talking about. His speech this morning has perplexed many of us around this neck of the woods.

edited to add:another friend who relies on medical supplies to test her diabetes was told by her insurance company that they will no longer cover her diabetic medical supplies...actually she was first told by the pharmacy when she phoned in for a refill, and then she was told by the insurance company when she called them. no prior notice given to her.

24. Uh, hello!
Bush, it's November-tis the season for part-time, low wage employment. What--gas come down a few cents? Hey, how about those auto industry layoffs? Want to talk about that? everything must be coming up roses for your war profiteering pals, but don't tell most of the American people losing good jobs, that things are just great!

25. I was so enraged by what Bush did today ...
... I wrote a cartoon about it.

If my partner can get it drawn by Sunday and we can get it finished Sunday evening, it will be UP in 46 more hours, late Sunday evening.

Here is Mister Commander in Chief, Mister Where's My Military Props At? But Friday, he couldn't be bothered with talking about those troops he allegedly loves so much. No, off message. Didn't want to distract from his end zone dance.
