Earlier this year the average price per gallon soared to over $3/gallon. Now it's about 2.20/2.30 per gallon. That's a nearly 33% rise and drop.

In the 1990's, many attributed the flourishing economy to low gas prices. Lower gas prices help the economy. The fact that gas, or crude oil, rose and dropped so wildly doesn't seem like natural economics to me. It feels like we got bilked until we couldn't take it anymore, now oil distributors are easing off a bit.

Gas is still about $.50 too high per gallon, in my opinion. It needs to drop below $2/gallon and stay there.

I simply can't get over the feeling that we're getting played with.

2. You think people who steal elections don´t cook the books?
Clinton saw that bush 1 kept the budget deficit numbers lower than they truly were. The greatest crook in U.S. history will gladly cook the numbers now.

6. Gas went up here
After reaching a low of $2.059 on Wednesday it's up to $2.159 here today for 87 octane. We are being gouged.

14. Trading prices went way up
A couple of days ago on the financial networks I saw gas at $1.49 and change, and oil at $56+ per barrel. I didn't see the closing numbers today but in midday gas was up to $1.60 and oil at $59 per barrel. It's always fast to rise, slow to drop.

I filled up here this afternoon at $2.13 before the increase was applied by the retailers.

7. About a month ago I saw an explanation of why this would happen.
I was watching CNBC and some financial guy said this: OPEC was getting worried that Americans were starting to conserve and looking for alternative sources of energy. Since OPEC doesn't want this to happen, they would most likely increase production and lower prices in late fall.

8. That needs to become an issue. This is truly disgusting.
OPEC is a cartel. We must come to terms with the fact that a cartel means that oil will be unnaturally priced. Where are all of the market-economist conservatives in this case?

Supply and demand do not dictate oil prices. Control does. We must rebel.

9. so, why is diesel fuel, and heating oil not following suit? they take
less energy to refine, and are crucial to many especially the elderly in the colder climates.

12. No, see that's why the gas prices went down.
In the winter months, most people drive less, but use more heat, so the better profits come from gouging the heating fuels.

10. Wolf on CNN said that despite good reports on the economy...
..and pretty hot stock market--

--That nothing has changed in Bush's dismal poll numbers relating to the economy.

Begala explained that it's because while the MEGA-rich may be benefiting, average Americans aren't feeling it.

Said that Bush's numbers haven't changed for many reasons.. Tuition costs are sky high, senior's benefits are being cut, wages keep going down, heating fuel keeps going up, and the rising cost of healthcare is killing them.. (and I forgot the other things they added)..

They also said that even for the many who are benefiting financially right now, the Iraq war is wiping out any plus numbers Bush otherwise would have gained.

In other words.. Bush still sucks. http://eliteleague.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/lol!.gif
