Did anyone hear the story about Micheal Steele. He ran for the Lt. Gov. spot in Maryland. The story went that at a debate Steele was pelted with oreo cookies. The Republican Party claimed this was a Democratic Party prank. The Republicans tried to say that the point was to say that Micheal Steele was an oreo, which is mainly know as a black person who is black on the outside and white on the inside. In other words a black person who wishes or thinks he is white.

The only problem with the Republican story was that it probably did not happen. When people tried to find proof of the incident happening. When a reporter interviewed the janitor if the incident happened the janitor said it did not happen. The janitor said that he cleaned the room after the debate and he did not see any oreos on the floor. To find more on the story you can go to fair and listen to Counterspin and hear their story about the incident. The part about the janitor is not in the Counterspin story. I hear that from the Rachel Maddow Show.

Another problem with this story is the hypocrisy of the story. The governor, the Steele campaign, the Republican party tries to say that this and other incidents are racism, but the have no problem with the Young Republicans and the College Republicans doing their cookie sales. Furthermore, they seem to enjoy it when these kids do that and then complain when someone say they (the young and college Republican) should not do these things.

The repubs seem to have total control of how the media reports things. I can't believe that this is completely due to Democratic ineptness; nor even due to media ineptness. The media have to be complicit in this distorted reporting - not just incompetent - but going along with the repub story.

I just heard on the radio a commercial for Hannity's radio show where he was saying just that. "We all know now that the party of hate speech is the LIBERAL Democrats." Gee, isn't that a party in the UK?

So that's the spin. We are the racists if we have anything to say about a Black man who decides to also be Conservative. Or even if we don't, apparently.

Them being the new party of the minority kind of got washed away with Katrina, I hope.
