1. Of course. It's a no brainer.
And what says Bush more than "no brainer"?

5. The good thing is...
Republicans have blamed Democrats so much that the American public has gotten smart to their "cry wolf" routine.

You can only shift blame so much before you are dubbed a "whiner".

6. As long as we leave, We can take a little GOP whining.

The civil war may or may not happen. This insurgency is a certainty as long as we're there.

AND ANOTHER THING: Occupation or Civil War is a FALSE DICHOTOMY. There are 100 other ways to skin this cat. Most of them involve UN and/or Arab League involvement. And who says Iraq even has to remain as one country? Makes more sense for all involved to create 3 out of it.

7. Are you saying there will be a civil war
if we pull out? It seems to me that we are the problem and if we pull out, things will settle down. IMHO.

8. Make no mistake - this is Bush's war - his and his alone.
HE - and no one else - gave the orders to invade Iraq.

The buck stops with him.

Remind people of that fact as '06 approaches.

11. What a bush-league thing to do
Play the "I'm taking my troops home" game and blaming it all on the bullies who didn't play his way.

It's a nice simple plan for a simple-minded person.

12. Another echo of Vietnam.
They STILL blame anti-war protests for ending the war in Vietnam. Otherwise, we could have won!! :eyes:

13. I'm not sure.
**** sounds resolute when he says he will stay until he has victory. If we do start pulling out, I think it Will be because people are lying to him, and he thinks we are being successful. I suspect that that is what is happening now. Rummy and dick are lying their asses off to **** who has no intellect or curiosity. There will be some pullout before the 06 election, but shrub will believe it is because of successes. Eventually it will reach a point where the troop levels cannot be sustained without a draft. That is when we will see substantial withdrawals in Iraq. And yes, when the country breaks into civil war, it will be all our fault.

14. That's why the DLC fools are going to KILL us by saying that we have to
stay or it will be a civil war". They need to be saying "It already IS a civil war"

The DLC is going to work against us again.

15. how?
How is it a civil war?

Obviously I'm sure you know what a civil war is:

A war between to factions of one country.

However, everyone is united against US.. they aren't exactly focused on each other enough, to be pulling a full fledged civil war of their own.

16. No crystal ball here
as to how wide and high the internal Iraq war will go, but although the various factions would all probably like to see us leave, they are not a monolithic force. In Vietnam, the insurgency had a uniting force, but in Iraq there are many competing elements. Some "cells" are made up of few people, like 3 or 4. Other groups are larger. This so-called army is a conglomerate of militias. Aside from their resistance to our occupation, the other common denominator is their competing agendas.

When months went by and bush failed to provide any positive outcomes of the invasion, the groups most prepared to become the opposition were the already underground agitating Shiite factions that had formed around various religious leaders. Those groups are also jockeying for power--with each other.

To make matters worse, outside forces are funding this chaos.

War in Iraq was greatest geopolitical blunder that our country has ever made. Ever. Even if one believed in the fantasy of WMD, the concept was so flawed that it was ridiculous. BTW, the CIA and others warned of the insurgency that would form. Super Powers vs insurgencies wins=0 SP vs 5 insurgency. Tough odds.

18. Between the Sunni and Shiite...
THere was a story on it on Thursday NBC Nightly News. Sunnis killing Shiite and Shiite killing Sunnis...I would call that a civil war. And Iran is backing the Shiite. You could probably find the link on NBCs page.
