I think you have to make 100,000 before the tax amount actually doubles. Go look up Alternative Minimum Tax, and you should find your answers. (I'd do it for you, but I'm really busy right now.) I don't remember all of the stats, but it is going to hit a staggering amount of people this year. The NYT had a really good piece on it in the economic section either yesterday, or today. It's also posted in the Stock Market Watch thread in Latest Breaking News close to the bottom of the page.
