CBS: Junior's 5 pt. poll bump from "men, conservatives, and 18 to 29 Y.O."
PRESIDENT BUSH’S JOB APPROVAL

Approve
40%

Disapprove
53%

The President’s approval rating has risen the most among men, conservatives, and 18 to 29 year olds.

The war in Iraq is by far the biggest reason Americans volunteer for disapproving of the job Bush is doing as president – it is the answer given by more than half who disapprove. Smaller numbers say that the President is doing a bad job generally, that he is dishonest, or mention his positions on other domestic issues.

WHY DISAPPROVE OF BUSH’S JOB? (Asked of those who disapprove of Bush’s job)

Iraq war
53%

Doing a bad job generally
8%

Dishonest
8%

Other domestic issues
6%

Other personal qualities
5%

Economy/jobs
4%

Among those who approve, 35 percent say the President is doing a good job generally. Another 13 percent mention the war in Iraq. The President’s personal qualities and positions on issues are also among the top reasons given.

Doing a good job generally
35%

2. Gag me
Young Republicans piss me off the most. Especially the ones in college. Maybe those that are uneducated have an excuse but college Republicans are just evil.

6. I don't know what 18-29 YOs they're polling...
99.99% of the ones I know (which includes several Marines, several Soldiers, 3 Airmen, and a double handful of active reservists and family members of said) disapprove strongly of Dim Son.

7. Just out of curiosity, (NOT, I repeat, NOT a slag on our beloved military)
strongly disapprove or voted against? Or, do you know? I've gotten a lot of mixed opinions back from the military people I know, both men and women, old and young, across all branches of service. I was surprised and confused that disapprove of didn't always mean voted against, that voted against didn't mean unsupportive of the war or even the way the war was being handled.

8. Of those I know who actually voted, all voted against.
Not all voted. :bang head: The ones that didn't vote would have voted against had they been motivated to vote. And just because I grew up in a mil household and have this huge mil circle around my life doesn't mean that I don't think the way the service is run is necessarily the best or right way... and there are a lot of "Oh-my-god-we-give-this-guy-a-large-caliber-rifle-and-we're-supposed-to-feel-safer-because-of-it"s running around.....

Yeah, there's a lot of cognitive dissonance in the ranks - you're not supposed to criticize the CIC or the chain of command, but when even a specialist fresh out of boot can see that they're making dumbass mistakes.... well... there's a lot of mental justification that has to go on so the offices of the CIC and the chain can still be respected.

It's not surprising that one of the former big medical discharge reasons was "situational psychosis" - the job used to officially make people crazy. Now it just unofficially makes them crazy....

10. Pretty short memories.
Or maybe just willfully misinformed.

Oh well...it's more important that Bush's polls spike, downward, closer to November 2006. When it can count for us.
