2. Just WOW! Too bad this hasn't been done everywhere!
I know Dean did a similar test a little while ago and showed how easy it was to change the voting results, and nobody paid any attention. I sure hope they do this time!

6. Actually, technology isn't bad. It gives everyone what they want.
Speed of results.
Ease on input.
And even accuracy!!!!

The programing on these machines is the problem. It can be fixed!

Remember, EVERY company uses computers to maintain their info. I worked in the days of green lined accounting sheets. Beleive me, you don't want to go back to stuff like that!

Dibold makes a lot of the ATM's we all use. Are you really afraid of an ATM? I'm not!

The world of technology has the cure to the problems of voting security, and it can be made to work. I'm sure of that!

The accounting world operates on a double entry system and it has proved itself to be totally reliable. We just need to apply it to the voting system.

7. I prefer that every one is able to watch the vote's being counted
not just a few who know the inner workings of the election theft machines, Its a lot easier to payoff a few thousand computer pros, to look the other way, than it would be to rig an election with millions watching the ballots being counted by hand, out in the open for all to see.

Paper Ballots Hand Counted keeps every one honest, and they sure couldn't steal 4.5 million actual paper ballots. A few here and there YES, 4.5 million NO.

8. I hear you and what you mean, but you can't ignore technology.
I went though the same thought process with the conversion of the corporate accounting system! Nobody trusted it! It took years of proving, running paralel systems to convince the Corp. World and Wall Street that it really is a valid and verifiable system.

Maybe that's the answer in voting too. Running paralel systems. One on paper and one on computer. It's a great idea, but I doubt the public would want to spend the extra time it would take, and the gov't would want to spend the $$$ to do it!

In the interim, please remember, a computer probably tracks your hours, calculates your pay, prints your paycheck, direct edeposits it into your bank account and you use billpay to pay your bills. It really does work quite well, huh?

9. Oh yes it does, but it will never work with counting ballots
In the interim, please remember, a computer probably tracks your hours (I am there to make sure it is right), calculates your pay(I am there to make sure it is right), prints your paycheck (I am there to make sure it is right), direct edeposits it into your bank account(I am there to make sure it is right) and you use billpay to pay your bills.(And again ,I am there to make sure they get it right) It really does work quite well, huh? (Yes as long as some one is watching them,to make sure they get it right), it works out quite well).

12. Sometimes a mark on a piece of paper is just fine
I want to know my vote has counted and can be recounted. I don't care if the initial count is done by machine as long as the recount is done by human beings. I love modern technology but some things are suspect and machines are not infallible.

10. Great post. REC This answers a lot.
This was the beginning of a long series of very bad news items about this lousy company, all culminating in Wally's AMF yesterday. They give the banks source code or a good look because the banks demand it; this is money, afterall. The voters, the American public, eat cake if you're hungry because Diebold won't give you a peek.

We know why. It's lousy technology. Clint Curtis says theier lousy DRE's have 10k lines of code. :wtf: is that about. Now we know why!!!
