I've had discussions and debates with you before and you have always come across as intelligent. I've become a little overly cautious after an incident with a guy here at DU. He posted about being pissed off at people who kept using all capital letters and he used all caps in his remarks. I thought he was being funny. So I made a sarcastic comment thinking in jest. Well, he got all pissed off at me. Turned out he wasn't kidding. And found my comment offensive.

35. I've enjoyed jousting with you.... |

Down in the video gamers folder, somebody actually posted a list of "evidence" seriously "proving" I was Hillary Clinton...and pathetic and hilarious as THAT was, another one of the videots was so taken by the accusation that he's posted it a couple of times in threads where I'm discussing something or other...which is doubly sad and pathetic.
And there was a poor soul on here a couple weeks ago who actually had some sort of conspiracy theory about Hillary Clinton being to blame for the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, based on some gibberish on a new age bulletin board. I thought that person was kidding, but he or she wasn't--and later PM'd me to accuse me of being a CIA operative.
I thought about changing my handle here to "Hillary Clinton, Superspy"....

DINO-man. You obviously are unable to see the necessity for pushing out the impure elements from the Party. Once we get rid of those DINO-types in the Senate we'll be down to a truly pure 11 members. Then, in a hundred years we'll have our majority back in both the Senate and the house. It'll be a tough hundred years...but Hey, purity is much more important. Right

4. That seems to be a pervasive opinion more and more |
|
and in some ways it's annoying. I think part of it grows out of frustration at the Party and how we seem to be spinning our wheels -- the Party always seems to be slow at getting a message out and when we do, the message seems to get undercut by one or two politicians. Part of it is whining. Part of it is the "I know all the answers." crowd. That's the group that is the most pure Democrats. Their opinions are always the most correct and if you stray even a little from the path of righteousness, you are a heathen and an awful person who murders old people, molests children and kicks puppies. For my part, there is only one Democratic Senator I would never vote for (never meaning "Unless the Republican was a Falwell clone or thought that bush was the smartest man they'd ever met) and that's the man who apparently French kisses scrubbo on tv -- joe LieBerman. There are Senators, congressmen and other politicians I wouldn't vote for in the Primaries, but I would more than likely vote for them in the general election -- unless the Republican was like a leftist (which would never happen).

There are republicans that voted with Clinton throughout his administration. Not all the time but for some issues.
That's politics, we need to stop this "Either My Way or the Highway" mentality because the party will cease to exist. That mentality makes us no better that republicans because they spent 8 years loathing Clinton to the point that anything even slightly Clintonesque and they have a hissy fit.
A long time ago our government was made up of mainly 2 parties that disagreed on many issues but tried to find a common ground in order to make this country a better place.
That ceased to exist in past 10 years. Either you're with us or with them seems to be the new attitude with this "All or Nothing" type thinking.
Joe Biden & Tom Carper have both voted in a manner that I wish they wouldn't have for many issues. And yet both of these senators are very popular in my home state (both over 60% approval rating, Carper will win easily in 2006). The only democrat that agrees 100% with me is well, ME. Everyone else is a compromise. If I'm not happy with the candidate on the ticket, I will fight like hell for another one in the primaries.
But in the end I am a democrat and I will vote for the democratic party even if the candidate in question is what we DUers would deem as not-perfect democrats. I had my chance in the primaries but last time I checked there were 200,000 some registered democrats in Delaware and not all of them read online communities and political blogs. Some of them just read the News Journal and watch the local news out of Philly and make their decisions from there.
I will not do anything to compromise a democratic majority ESPECIALLY in the general election. Reid & Pelosi have proven to me that they are leaders that will try their best to end the war. When Murtha spoke out, Pelosi had his back. There for if I can support a democrat; albeit a moderate one, I know that democrat will help give us the majority needed to maybe put Pelosi in the Speaker position and get legislation on the floor to help stop this war.
