My LTTE in The Day: Lieberman In League With Bush Warmongers |
|
http://www.theday.com/eng/web/news/re.aspx?re=4BB0780C-CD66-4A9A-8C34-6A2B9E26EA54 The editors of The Day have subscribed to that neo-con myth that says that “there's truth to be found on both sides” of an argument. (“Sen. Lieberman's integrity,” Dec. 8.) Just because Sen. Lieberman has visited Iraq four times doesn't mean he sees the truth.
Remember, Sen. Lieberman called Ahmed Chalabi, the convicted embezzler, a principled man. If The Day wants to remain financially solvent, don't ever hire Sen. Lieberman as a staff recruiter.
Sen. Lieberman's op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal sounded like he took the Potempkin village tour of Iraq. Nowhere did Sen. Lieberman cite that 80 percent of the 27 million Iraqis he claims our troops are defending want foreign troops out of their country; nowhere did he mention that Iraq is heading towards an Islamic theocracy; and nowhere did he mention the recent Arab League-sponsored Iraq conference, at which the Shiite-led Iraqi government extended an olive branch to Sunnis by calling the Sunni-led insurgency a “national liberation front.” The Day may see Sen. Lieberman as a patriot, but this Connecticut Democrat sees Sen. Lieberman as an accomplice to psychotic war criminals in the Bush administration.
It's long past time that he review what the articles of the Nuremburg trials were really about — “wars of aggression” are crimes against peace and “Accomplices participating in the formulation or execution of . . . any of the foregoing crimes are responsible for all acts performed by any persons in execution of such plan.” For more about the articles of the Nuremberg trials, log onto www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/nuremberg/NurembergIndictments.html

Learned, fact-filled, doesn't talk down to the reader, and will probably whiz right over the collective craniums of The Day editorial board.

7. Yeah, that's why I'll send the Nuremburg Articles to Lieberman for his |
|
Holiday present from me this year. He obviously forgot what war crimes are really about and it's not just non-Americans who can commit them.
