Bush has virtually admitted that the war in Iraq was just one colossal mistake. He is cutting and running. He is going to pull a few thousand troops out in the next few months before the 2006 election as a symbolic, but empty, gesture on the war.
This war was always about two things: control of Iraq's oil and guaranteeing Bush's popularity as a "war president." Oil has never been more expensive, and Bush is unpopular because of the war. This means Republicans are going to try to run on the tax cuts/economy issues. Democrats need to respond with proposals to make the US (and to the extent possible individual Americans) energy-independent, to invest in the American infrastructure (including the levees in New Orleans, national parks, urban areas and maintaining the integrity of rural communities) and to resolve the healthcare crisis in the nation. All of the other issues can be resolved if we can do those three things. That is because good policy on those three issues will improve the economy of the U.S. far more than tax cuts. Good policy on those three issues will generate money for education, will protect the environment and give us an economic basis for moving into the future.

for a different outcome.
So, it's not just the naked emperor who is nuts, his handlers are too.
The are so desperate to get their Stamp Out Real Patriots Act renewed they are losing their minds.
Iffin they have power wrenched from their talons, they are all going on trial and they know it. Getting sorta sweaty at the People's House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave! Probably a lot worse over at Che` VP.
Is Cheney back yet? Or is he still hiding from the posse?
