Bush is guilty as sin but he has decided to fight back...
He believes the Democrats will fold on this domestic spying issue. He will be able to bullshit his way through it just like he did with the WMDs story in Iraq, he believes. He will take the offensive. He will pursue those that "blew the whistle" (leaked) to the NYTimes. They have made our country less safe, he will say.

It will be interesting to see how the Democrats fight back. This is the time to take a stand. They need to keep the heat on. They have the best hand in this poker game. It would be a shame to see them fold.

2. Absolutely...
Get MAD, dammit! Take off the goddam gloves and act like you're in a fight! The idiot just punched HIMSELF in the face. Give him a few body blows and put him on the ropes.

So WHAT if the pundits and radical righties are screaming at you? They're a bunch of nitwits anyway.

Losing his temper shows just how crazed he is right now.

4. I can't see them throwing this hand in
With the Reid and Boxer statements, and with Conyers at the ready, the seeds are in place to really tighten the screws down this time. The wild cards are, as always, Biden, Lieberman, Emmanuel, Hillary, etc. - the DLC. If they come out with their usual "we'll have to look into this, as the President may have been completely forthright with the American people" horseshit then he'll get a paper cut instead of a stab wound.

On the other hand, if a group like the Congressional Black Caucus, or a group of Senators and Reps led by John Murtha make a definitive statement concening possible impeachable offenses, then we indeed have something to go with.

6. You're correct - this is ABSOLUTELY the time to make a stand
If the Democrats in Congress can't capitalize on this blunder then they are worthless. Naturally, I think the spineless wimps will gather by the campfire with their Republican partners and sing 'kumbayah' while holding hands and swaying together.

Bush is off-balance and stunned right now. There's a critical mass of opinion against Bush right now, especially among moderates and swing-voters. Bush has created a situation that goes well beyond his ability to manage. My feeling is that everyone around him is scared shitless about the slugs he has been taking. This should be our Golden Moment. Do the Democrats have the guts to do the right thing?

8. From polls I have seen, the public is incensed
I notice that the media is taking their cues from public sentiment and the dems are following suit.

9. As usual, you're right on
Bullies never think they'll meet resistance. Sadly, I don't necessarily think they will this time either. To stand fast against him in this instance is to be tarred as a coward willing to run from adversity. It's sort of like standing to vote against a "patriot act".

Real men fight on. Weaklings run. Although this bears little similarity to the idiotic morass we're in now, the puffery of trumpeting sadomasculine fools rings clear.

Do we have the spine to stand against this? It's not like it takes a genius to point out that we've gotten ourselves stuck in a tar baby, but will the "opposition" rent a spine and make a stand?
