Reuters: Gen. Clark stays on message in political campaign
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 12:21 PM by saywhat
Whether he is wearing a white apron with four gold stars while pouring pancake batter onto a sizzling griddle or debating his rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, retired Gen. Wesley Clark stays on message.

"I am not a politician, I am a leader," he said at one campaign stop as the remaining Democratic candidates vie to stop front-runner John Kerry of Massachusetts for waltzing away with the nomination.

<snip>

And he does that by talking about leadership, leadership, leadership. That's the message whether he is flipping pancakes at a Veterans of Foreign Wars hall or standing soldier straight in a candidates debate, whether he is talking about rebuilding Iraq or reforming health care.

1. nice article
but i'm starting to accept reality. it just looks like the best Clark can hope for is the VP slot or perhaps a cabinet position if the Dems win.

3. Yes, it does seem like Kerry's wrapping it up.
Still, a Kerry/Clark was my dream team a year ago before I knew the General would run. I could live with that. Actually I can live with any Dem team that throws His Lowness out on his sorry arse.

4. Before the votes are cast Tuesday?
I don't know what reality you mean. You must mean the reality that CNN, MSNBC, and FOX are painting.

8. Too soon for any pronouncements
I'm in with Clark for president until he is out. We go through early March, at least, before the primary race is determined. We should not be rushed. This is too important.

12. Yup, after a grand total of TWO primaries it's all wrapped up...
Puhleez...there's a long way to go yet, and I for one will NOT have the media pick the Democratic candidate....

Wes Clark is by far the best choice, both for Democrats as well as Independents and moderate republicans looking for a reason to send * back to his pig farm in Texass because he has been a total and utter failure....

GO WES GO!!!

13. I don't see Clark as a VP, just because of the hierarchical issues
Most of our candidates would probably feel a little threatened by having a former General as their VP--especially one who clearly has aspirations towards the WH. Nonetheless, I dearly hope he ends up as Defense Secretary, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, NSC advisor, or even Secretary of State...

I must say, if I could meet one of the candidates in person I would definitely pick Clark.

Edit: I like this little soundbite too - "If you want a doctor, vote for a doctor. If you want a lawyer, vote for a lawyer. If you want a leader, vote for me," he told a post-debate rally.

10. I have forwarded this article to my many
Clark supporter friends and encouraged them to forward to theirs. This is a good article, positive and not hysterical coming from a reliable outlet.
