Dear Arlen: You've been the whipping boy of the Repuke party... |

...get a backbone and open up the investigations into the wiretap.
You probably rank up there as one of the senators who has served the longest in DC with 2004 being your 5th-6th re-election. And yet all that long term 'seniority' still makes you the proverbial last boy picked for the republican dodgeball team. Your junior counterpart in Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum, hadn't even served a full senate term before he was put on the fast track to top republican leadership.
The republicans in DC have never liked you. Hell they actually tried to get you unseated with running Santorum-clone Pat Toomey against you in the 2004 primaries and you barely held them off.
And to further prove how much of a republican outsider you really are, everyone once in awhile you do dumb things to try and prove you're "One of them" even though it's so against everything you stand for like your grilling of Anita Hill in the Clarence Thomas nomination hearings.
So Arlen, I get on my hands and knees and I ask you this one favor only. You've been my senator since I was a baby girl and through all the years I lived in Pennsylvania until I moved to Delaware. I beg of you this one favor to stop trying to fit in with the neo-con republicans that you truly not a part and finally please, please, please do the right thing and investigate the illegal wire-taps. I know there is good in you when you support a woman's right to choose. I know there is good in you when you were there to try and stop the Bethlehem Steelworkers pension buyout (that's the only reason my family voted for you in 2004). I know there is good in you when you call the WIP morning show and talk about your beloved Eagles on the popular Philly morning sports show. Now do the right thing, the good thing and investigate this illegal travesty against the american people and the constitution.
Please open the investigation. It's your committee, please do something about this.
Sincerely
LynneSin Born & Breed Pennsylvanian
(note - yes, I'm planning on sending this to Arlen and maybe even my old hometown newspaper but I have to clean up the beginning part of it first)

1. I like it! But is there any doubt he |
|
won't open up an investigation that I'm not aware of? I thought he said he would, though realize a few weeks off could inspire a change of heart.

2. As long as the "R" is next to their names - I won't believe it until.... |
|
...it actually happens.
We all need to go gung-ho on Arlen Specter and get pressure on him to do the investigation. It's his committee (Judicary) that would look into it and he's the chairman (although the neo-cons really want to get rid of him)
