1. At least it will keep the Bush illegal spying story on the front burner. |

2. If ShrubCo knew LAST YEAR that they had the story, why is it now |
|
getting investigated? It's not about the leak - it's about retaliation for them publishing the story.
If it was about the leak, they would have done a secure/classified investigation back when this (mis)Administration knew the story was out into the public - LAST YEAR!

3. There is a simple answer to why now and not |
|
last year. If he had investigated last year when the NYT told him, the illegal wiretapping would have become news last year instead of just recently when the newspaper ran the story. He was hoping to keep the lid on it at the NYT and keep it hidden forever.

4. No - DOJ could have investigated the leak without it becoming |
|
public knowledge. Think about how little we really know about Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation - and 90% of that one we knew about before anything was ever made public. DU and other left blogs were some of the first to scream for investigations of outting Plame. But who he talked to and what he learned over a 2 year period didn't leak - much as we would have loved to know what was going on.
