Kos:CT-Sen: Looks like Ned Lamont to take on Lieberman
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 04:51 PM by cal04
It looks increasingly likely that wealthy Connecticut businessman Ned Lamont will give Lieberman a primary challenge.

Lamont has apparently promised to spend over a million dollars of his own money on the race. Lowell Weicker will support his campaign and should be present at the announcement. Kiki Kennedy, Ted's wife, has been promoting Lamont to her personal circle -- the Lamonts and Kennedys apparently have long had a warm relationship. Connecticut Citizen Action Group is apparently aboard.

The big questions are whether DFA and MoveOne get involved as they've been threatening the past couple of months. DFA's Jim Dean is being lobbyied hard by Lieberman on Monday. We'll see how that goes. MoveOn's involvement (which would equal money and boots on the ground) would also be crucial to Lamont's chances.

Lamont's campaign contributions (0.00 / 0)
A little under $35,000 in the last three cycles, all to Democrats, including:

1. $21,000 to the DNC.
2. $2,850 to the state party.
3. Primary donations to three candidates: Dean, Kerry, and Graham(?).
4. $500 to Diane Farrell.
5. $1,000 to Lieberman.

Looks like he puts his money where his mouth is.

1. I suspect that the DFA supporters and activist
across the country would be seriously disappointed if Dean backed Lieberman.

2. yeah
there is no way in hell Jim Dean will back Lieberman. He recently told Lieberman to start acting like a Democrat. Also everyone remembers Lieberman's cold treatment of his brother.

10. Yes,
it is!

But the question remains: is the would-be challenger any better? That remains to be seen...

4. Lieberman lobbying Dean
HAH!

"Oh sorry, Jim, about saying Howard was in a spider-hole of denial, and basically calling him unelectable and unpatriotic."

"Please support me..."

5. Dean has a perfect response he can use:
It's his job to express no preference in primaries, and support the Democratic candidate as soon as that person has been democratically chosen.

7. If he's a businessperson
I'd really want to check if he didn't also make contributions to other candidates or one of the CORRUPT REPUBLICAN schemes like a foundation that help the children of black PhDs who were killed in Iraq (i.e.). What ever happened to the Lieberman who would stand up to any corruption or improprieties and demand ethical behavoir? Is he really that afraid of losing his Senate seat that he has sold out his principles to protect and serve the American people, regardless of any party affiliation?

Is Ned Lamont pro-Israel? Don't underestimate the support for the state of Israel in the state of Connecticut.

I would so much rather spend time and money knocking out a major *head like McConnell or Coleman, especially if Lamont doesn't win.

Anybody poll CT recently?

IMPEACH
CORRUPT REPUBLICANS

DUMP HASTERT!
