Dinesh D'Souza wrote for Concerned Alumni of Princeton |
|
Henson, Scott, Philpott, Tom. The Humanist. Buffalo: Mar 1992.Vol.52, Iss. 2; pg. 10
(not online, get it from the library)
"Upon graduating from Dartmouth in 1983, D'Souza took a job editing Prospect, an alumni magazine run by a conservative group called Concerned Alumni of Princeton. Prospect was one of the early magazines through which the right channelled Third Generation journalists. William Rusher, the publisher of the National Review, served on both the advisory board of the Dartmouth Review and the CAP board of directors. And one Dartmouth Review alumni--Keeney Jones, the author of "Dis Sho Ain't No Jive, Bro"--had already worked for Prospect as its "publisher.""

1. It always puzzles me when an American from India denigrates |
|
US minorities, as D'Souza has made a career of doing. He reminds me of other self-haters like Thomas Sowell who think racism in this country is a myth.

2. He is one with the oppressors, so he doesn't care about racism. |
|
From what I've read, he's one of the most racist pundits, far worse (in my opinion) than Ann Coulter or Hannity or any other. They don't attempt to appear scientific or reality-based. (On a side note, I think I read that he dated Ann Coulter in college. :puke:)
D'Souza denies that racism exists, because he likes it. It makes him and his party feel stronger. By oppressor, I don't mean Caucasians or men or rich people - although most probably are. It's about a class of privileged people that celebrate selfishness, officiousness into the personal lives of others, and denigration of the struggles of others. {See also: Barbara "beautiful mind" Bush}

3. The story on D'Souza is rather interesting |
|
First of all, knowing how Ivy League admissions work, I'm almost positive that he got extra points for being Asian and for being an immigrant. Yet he has made a career of speaking against affirmative action. I wonder which "qualified white middle class student" was denied admission so that D'Souza could attend. :sarcasm:
Second, his "conversion" to conservatism was almost funny. It seems that his poor little eyes were traumatized by the sight of men dancing together when he accidentally wandered into a gay dance, and he searched the campus for a student organization that was dedicated to stamping out such "depravity." He found it at the Dartmouth Review and soon became one of their stars.

Indians are dark skinned, but Caucasian. And India has a caste system (i.e. built-in bigotry).

5. Simple...India has 1200 Million people, they can't all possibly think |
|
alike. There are extreme conservatives in every race, creed, sex, national origin, I can think of. Be assured majority of Americans of India origin are democrats. I would be worried if they were 99% democrats cuz that clearly indicates lack of thinking power.
