Bush now at only 43% Approval Rate |
See at www.rasmussenreports.com. They are very kind to him. He is the most divisive president ever.
The thought he could be allowed to appoint two Supreme Court justices is abhorrent.

1. It was the primary reason to vote for Kerry in '04. . . |
to deny George W. the opportunity to appoint anyone to the Supreme Court. Everything else was secondary at best.

3. I've written two books and numerous academic papers on the Third Reich... |
and its aftermath, and lectured extensively on the rise of Hitlerism, its transformation to totalitarianism, and the world's attempt to codify at the Palace of Justice at Nuremburg the lessons that had been won in battle. I'm also a passionate student of US history, both social and political. For what it's worth, I don't believe George W. Bush is comparable to Hitler beyond certain superficial characteristics. Rather, Bush -- and the entire neo-con cabal -- are distinctly American, as is our situation these days. When we focus on that reality, and keep ourselves mired in the search for today's answers, we can make enormous strides towards correcting a situation that is rapidly spinning out of control. Otherwise, we're looking for answers in places where the questions don't point. Like the old joke about the drunk who seeks his car keys under the streetlamp because "the light's better" there than where he lost them, it may make people feel secretly at ease to put a familiar face to an increasingly untenable situation, but it doesn't accomplish the hard work of finding the needed answers.

4. I absolutely agree with this |
although I was extremely alarmed by our troops being led by an incompetent asshole, it was the Supreme Court nominees that I felt could permanently alter the course of America - in my mind, another Scalia will finish off what our Founding Fathers started - it is that bad.
