Bush speak or stupid typo? |
|
From an AP news. http://apnews.excite.com/article/20060126/D8FCEUC80.html"If you're platform is the destruction of Israel, you're not a partner in peace," Bush said. "The U.S. does not support parties that want to support our ally Israel." If this is a quote I wonder how it translates? Talk about double speak. No wonder we are in a mess.

1. Given the god-awful "you're platform" grammatical error... |
|
this could be the fault of whoever typed this in the first place (I'm assuming you just cut and pasted it). But, at the same time, this certainly does sound like a Bushism.

Bush Confident Surveillance Is Legal Email this Story
Jan 26, 10:47 AM (ET)
(AP) President Bush answers questions, Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 during a news conference in the Brady... Full Image WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush defended anew his program of warrantless surveillance Thursday, saying "there's no doubt in my mind it is legal." He suggested that he might resist congressional efforts to change it.
"The program's legal, it's designed to protect civil liberties, and it's necessary," Bush told a White House news conference.
"I'm going to continue using my authority. That's what the American people expect."
Bush used the beginning of his first news conference of the year, and 10th in office, to preview some of the issues he will discuss in his upcoming State of the Union speech.
Bush also commented optimistically on yesterday's Palestinian parliamentary elections saying, "peace is never dead" in the Middle East.
The militant Palestinian organization Hamas has reportedly made significant gains in voting yesterday.
"The election should open the eyes of the old guard in the Palestinian territories," the president said at his midmorning news conference at the White House.
Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement, has called for the destruction of the Jewish state and has carried out attacks against Israelis.
Bush said the U.S. position on Hamas, the militant Palestinian organization that has reportedly made significant gains in parliamentary elections, has not changed.
"If you're platform is the destruction of Israel, you're not a partner in peace," Bush said. "The U.S. does not support parties that want to support our ally Israel."
