The media is our enemy and we must fight them..... |
|
Talking to my dad today, he gets all of his news from the local newspaper and TV, he said:
Kerry will look like a fool if he filibusters Alito, everyone knows Bush would pick a Conservative. (I said but alito does not represent very many americans and we should fight to save what we hold dear as dems, he is a dem.)
Dean needs to go.
Hillary should not be our candidate.
He is a smart man and he knows what he knows from what the corporatist want him to know.
Now is the time to fight the media, we are gaining ground and need to push harder. My area is starting up TWO local indi-media papers and it is fun and exciting to be a part of the staff of both. "The Southern "i"" and "The Hampton Roads Spark"

1. I agree. Perhaps we should start marching and protesting outside the |
|
offices of major media outlets? Boycott news networks? Whatever we do, it has to be vocal and get "major media attention."
hmmmm ;)

4. It has to be relentless because they will ridicule us and we will |
|
have to keep hitting hard. No matter what they say about our leaders, no matter how much they mock us and them we need to keep pushing and pushing. Writing letters everyday, calling in, boycotting etc...
their performance had been pitiful toward:
Election Fraud Kerry and the filibuster Spy-gate Plame Etc, etc.................................................................

7. We must ridicule them right back. |
|
Incessantly.
They're so absurd, it gets easier and easier.
They must be mocked into oblivion.

I am passing out flyers and making CD copies of things like Al Gore's speech to pass around. The Cds and DVDs seem to be most effective here in Arkansas, where many indy newspapers have been tried and failed. I hope in your neck of the woods things are more favorable to the printed word.

5. The shopping list flyers |
|
The ones where you have a shopping list and then information, including sources, on many different topics. Unfortunately I'm not at the computer where I have the site bookmarked, so I don't have the url, but I'm sure that there are other DUers who can give you the information.

13. The left needs it's own echo chamber. |
|
Radio hosts, TV stations, newspapers, magazines, thinktanks, pundits, media war rooms, etc. We need to emulate the right, basically.

14. No, all we have to do is tell the real and complete truth |
|
and we will have their head exploding on their lies. It's not that hard to do. We need to get those radio hosts, TV stations, newspapers, magazines, thinktanks, pundits, media war rooms, etc. up and running though.

17. Hey, I agree. But someone is going to have to come up with the |
|
moola to do it. I suggested awhile ago that we should support the media we have, like "The Nation", "Mother Jones" and other periodicals like that. The more subcriptions and money they get, the easier it will be for them to expand maybe even to the point of rivaling the New York Times and Washington Post.
We shouldn't even put CNN or the other whore channels on ever. We need to support Air America Radio and Pacifica Radui and all the stations who get our news out. If these guys can stop struggling and expand, there will be a better chance that we can catch up with and overtake the MSM whores.

The news media ARE the corporations. So even though the news media is a lot more about marketing than it is about investigative reporting, I will have to say that I honestly don't believe that a boycott of the media itself will be enough to cause any significant affect. The reason I think this is because these corporations who have purchased the media, did so for the same reason they purchase politicians -- to secure their own agendas.
I hardly think that a protest of NBC (for example) will cause NBC to start investigating anything that will affect General Electric or anything that has to do with their making money off the Iraq war, or expose any shameful labor or environmental practices. And many of these entities are intertwined with multiple corporate interests, so you're also not likely to see one of them outing another.
This is the kind of shit which is the main reason why the founding fathers originally made it illegal for businesses to own stock in each other's businesses.
I myself personally believe that the only way we can have the desired affect we wish; is to organize a sizable percentage of the working poor and middle class in this country to take away the one thing they must have from us in order to support their power -- our labor.
Labor (as you know) is the bases of all wealth and without it there can be no wealth, and without wealth the powerful are no longer powerful.
You want to see the poor and middle class bitch-slap the powerful? Than all we have to do is simply all come together in solidarity and give a big nation wide fuck-you to the corporations and walk out in a national general strike.
You want to see the arrogant oligarchy in this country have a fucking cow? Do a nation wide general strike and I guarantee you you'll see a spectacle you'll never forget.
