Bush's base has arisen in anger over TWO parts of SOTU already |
|
It would seem to me.
BTW- as a side note- "strengthening his base" is good for W but if the Dems do it (like at least trying to mount a filibuster) that is never mentioned.
Okay so as anyone who pays attention to the RW noise machine knows the single biggest issue of importance and discussion right now is..... IMMIGRATION. They are all clammering about it. The "Mexican standoff" story was a hate radio staple for several days both locally and nationally.
Build a wall Gotta keep them out OTM (other than Mexicans) Minutemen
All those just gets their blood boiling. This is still clearly going to be one of their big issues in the midterm elections (room for candidates to distance themselves from W?).
Low and behold W comes out and says that some of them should stay and that our economy depends on THEM. *GASP* (cut to McCain standing up to applaud)
NOW it turns out that when W said that we were "addicted to oil" and that we needed to "break that addiction" he didn't actually mean that. What he meant was....uh..... he really meant to say....
It seems that the crowd that LOVES to burn them some oil is not to happy about this. They rejoice in their opulence they love to laugh at hippies and tree huggers as they pull up to the stoplight they love that their neo-religions tell them that the Earth is THEIRS (personally) to rape....but their fearless leader-an }oilman" :eyes: no less - is not with them on this. In fact he might be AGAINST them??? (you have to be one or the other)
That didn't take long.

They are screaming on RW sites today that Alito has already betrayed them by voting to stay an execution last night until the subject of lethal injection can be ruled on. Saying he is not a conservative and is a liberal in disguise!
Boy, that didn't take long! One day!

2. "Addicted to oil" means nothing |
|
without kicking CAFE up above 40 mpg, and going on a transit building binge to rival the Eisenhower "Interstate Highway" binge. Neither will happen.
We will drill in Alaska, put troops in Nigeria, and attack Venezuela.

3. Amazing how fickle the base can be, isn't it? |
|
Imagine how pissed they'll be when circumstances actually force them to use less oil.

4. I don't understand the stance of Bush on the immigration |
|
issue. It is hugely unpopular in the conservative community. He may be cutting his party throat for the 20006 and 2008 election on this issue. We need to sieze this opportunity and beat that drum to election day.

7. What does W do? What does he actually do? |
|
Doo doo doodoo (Jeopardy theme)
He gives speeches and while his is in _____ (insert city/state) he also holds a __________
Think about when he invited himself to the MLK birthday celebration in Atlanta in 2004.....what did he do that night....
He had a fundraiser.
THAT is what he does.
W can keep the money boys happy and at the same time the radio keeps the base pissed off about something that isn't going to change. At least it will never be resolved. It is like abortion or health care (depending on which side is exploiting it).

You know they never do anything without analyzing the benefits first. I think the Reptilians have determined that they might be able to scoop a lot of Hispanic voters from some key states with this position, and even though the base doesn't like it, the base still won't abandon the party because of this one position.

I hadn't thought about that part. W can still go and make appearances and take the full weight of the Presidency with him.
Very good point.

Bush's immigration position serves the corporate interest in obtaining cheap labor. It's favored by that significant component of his base.
Yes, it's unpopular with other parts of his base. Rove and the gang probably figure that, as usual, they can distract the rubes by throwing them some red meat about abortion or gay marriage, to outweigh their anti-immigrant feelings.

16. Who else is going to cut the WH grass? |
|
It just seem to anger their religious base to no end, yet they still give him a free pass on it so long as he talks about gay marriage or abortion. They are in for a rude awakening when he leaves office. It will be like a one night stand, when they wake up they won't even have cab fare on the nightstand. Just left to do the walk of shame.

Some racist types on another board complaining about him not mentioning immigration. They were pretty mad about it. I just told them he's not going to say anything about that because american business has been relying on cheap labor for a long time now and don't want it to end.

Not that they are not working on restricting abortion at every turn. But some day the fucking wacos are going to demand an answer as to why with a thug house, thug senate and thug presidnet they haven't stopped the killing! I can't wait for this day when they wake up and realize they were used and discarded. Ain't that right Kathy Harris?
