shoot first, ask questions later
Indeed, Republican leadership proves consistency is key when it comes to leadership. Mirroring Mid-Eastern policies of shoot-first, ask questions later, less than illustrious Cheney shows his spiritual side on a Sunday, by shooting a friend in the face.

Updated: 7:28 p.m. ET Feb. 12, 2006

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and wounded a companion during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, spraying the fellow hunter in the face and chest with shotgun pellets.

Harry Whittington, a millionaire attorney from Austin, was “alert and doing fine” in a Corpus Christi hospital Sunday after he was shot by Cheney on a ranch in south Texas, said Katharine Armstrong, the property’s owner.

He was described as in stable condition by Yvonne Wheeler, spokeswoman for the Christus Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi.

Armstrong in an interview with The Associated Press said Whittington, 78, was mostly injured on his right side, with the pellets hitting his cheek, neck and chest during the incident which occurred late afternoon on Saturday

She said emergency personnel traveling with Cheney tended to Whittington until the ambulance arrived.

Cheney’s spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington and his wife at the hospital on Sunday.

Cheney's office delays announcement

The shooting was first reported by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. The vice president’s office did not disclose the accident until nearly 24 hours after it happened.

1. Convenient timing ...
"The vice president’s office did not disclose the accident until nearly 24 hours after it happened."

Like if the guy had died, we'd ever have heard this story ...

9. watch how programming of movies works to serve a tyrant
For example: A very cute VERY expensive kids movie that features evolution playing today, as that little news tid-bit emerged. It will mostly rally the Reich-Wing.

Then, there's all that patriotic fervor fluff we'll be seeing in increasing proportions as the Mid-East continues to intensify.

7. in media Sunday is a reduced capacity news crew day
Sunday is still the sacred day of rest in media. As for killing wild animals several primitive belief systems practiced it but I can't seem to find ANY Judeo/Christian references that advocate hunting on Sunday.

Am I missing something here, Nance?

10. My first thought when this story broke ...
... (probably because my tin-foil hat is ALWAYS handy these days) is that the VP's office didn't disclose this incident until 24 hours after it had happened, and I find that a bit odd.

Now that the accident victim is on the road to recovery, the story gets publicized -- and no doubt there will be photo-ops of the two hunting buddies laughing it up over this incident before the week is out, showing we 'Mericans that it was all in good fun!

Had the victim died, however, I don't think this story EVER would have found its way into the MSM. There are a lot of good ol' GOP boys out there who would have covered the Veep's ass out of loyalty to the 'party'.

Twenty-four hours -- that's about how long it takes to get everyone involved together for a 'chat', to ensure that everyone is on the 'same page' with their story ...

4. Dana Bash on CNN...
just reported that Whittington did not follow proper safety protocol (announcing himself) and was subsequently shot. Blaming the victim. Nice.

14. also varkam
That's a damn lie when it comes to hunting protocol... In bird hunting, one NEVER shoots at birds at such a low angle for exactly the reason we see in this example... Cheney violates every basic rule hunters commonly practice.

12. All I Want To Know I WHEN Will This Nightmare End???
Now we have a VICE-President of a Country "accidentally" shooting a fellow quail hunter... AND The Beat Goes On!!

Isn't it time that this GIG is up??? I'm sure is was accidental, but how weird can this stuff get before a certain SANITY returns to America?????

Not only has the incompetence been CLEAR for so many years, there MUST BE some way that REALITY will finally set in! It is no longer a question of competence for me, these people are about ruination and I'm SICK of the fluffing off of their outrageous mistakes that not only cost lives but make our Nation look completely STUPID!!

And forget about him (Mr. Snarl) suffering any true angst about what happened, one would HAVE TO HAVE A HEART, to feel remorse! Come on everyone, there MUST be some way that the common man in AMERICA can be effective when we face such peril!! But then DEMOCRACY would have to prevail for that to happen!

It's no longer a question of "what" will take them down, the question is WHEN!! Even if we are a supposed SUPERPOWER, and I have my doubts, lesser nations have shown themselves to have more integrity than what we have settled for! And I include MOST of those in D.C. in my statement! Robber Barons have taken hold once again!!!!!
