2008 election - this just occurred to me this morning. |
|
The usual tactic is for the former president to make some campaign appearances with the candidate from his party. It occurred to me just this morning that any Repub candidate who wants to try this with Bush is going to have to do the same "hand-picked loyalty oath audience" campaign-in-a-bubble that Bush did and does, in order to prevent the inevitable protests, uncomfortable questions, dissent, free thought, etc. And once you've gone that way once, you're pretty much stuck there forever.

1. Bush may actually be nearly useless in that regard |

except to the base itself.
I don't think they can play the "bubble" game in a campaign. It would be counter-productive.
