The only way Bush can win this "port sale" controversy.....
...is to turn it into a Democratic vs Republican issue. ANd it's obvious that is their plan. The polls this morning show only 17% support it. On FOX this morning, Chris Wallace showed Jon Corzine saying that the UAE was paying for the ports with "blood money". Joe Biden responded by saying he could close his eyes and hear Peter King saying the same thing. Also, they are pushing the "racism" card and "hysteria"...The sad fact is that this deal was approved by a bunch of CFR'ers with no loyalty to our nation but only loyalty to Big Business and a One World government. That may sound conspiratorial, but look at the facts.

3. This decision was made
By Royal Decree.

It was a decision made without any sense of democratic principles, and it is biting the Royal Family in the ASS!

4. Then they are creating new Democrats
The ordinary republican on the street does not like
this deal one bit... it's outsourcing our ports. Period.
No matter how Bush and his cronies dress this up
or delay it.. it's still a sell-off of our national interests.
(who cares to whom or how)
A lot of pissed off republicans see through this nonsense...
and as a result... we're going to see a lot of people
leaving the party. They're fed up with this administration..
just as we all are. We have a lot in common.

5. After Watching The Posturing On CNN, MSNBC & MTP This .....
morning - it looks like that is exactly what is happening. All those outspoken Repugs - on the port deal - are talking much more moderately and conciliatory today. The MSM * apologists are backing down. I heard things like - was this a bogus story? Did the MSM make too much of it.

This has all the earmarks another *Co whitewash.

Oh Well - let's hope the next *Co misstep or scandal will knock them out. Don't hold your breath though.

7. Dems should play the incompetent/failure card
Bush has been a complete failure at everything his hand has touched. He failed to stop 911; lied about intel and going to war, then his little pissing contest with Poppy war turned into a miserable failure and has destabilized the mid east, his drug prescription plan is a failure, and his incompetence shown like a shining star in the aftermath of Katrina. This country has no reason to believe this UAE Port deal will be a success. Will it allow terrorists to attack the country more easily; allow for importation of illegal drugs and more importantly why does this administration want this deal so badly?
The Dumbass-in-chief should have leveled with the public for the real reasons rather than play the race card. I suspect the real reason for this deal has to do with the big oil companies in the way of cheaper oil imports from the mid-east.

Do you really want the Brownies and Chertoffs overseeing and making deals for the security of our ports with Arabs that supported terrorism? Linking incompetence with Arabs and terrorism is a homerun. After all, the repukes used fearmongering for their political gains. I think that's a card the Dems should run with.

8. All the arguments are specious ones. Take China for example.
Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 12:05 PM by Zen Democrat
On This Week today, the comment was made that this was anti-Arab racism because Americans aren't up in arms because China operates some of our West Coast ports.

What? China operates ports on the West Coast? Who knew? And who wouldn't agree that if Americans were polled on this they would be just as outraged as they on on the UAE deal?

Also, Joe Klein makes the point that the UAE would be even more security conscious because if the ports blew up, they would lose their own assets. How specious is that???? It's not a question of the ports being attacked, but of the material that passes through the ports!

I haven't heard one argument for this port deal that doesn't have a huge hole in it. There's lots of spinning going on here -- and I think we can see the hypocrisy involved.

It's obvious to me that the American people are shocked that FOREIGN ENTITIES are running our ports. Whether they are Arab, British, Chinese, Indian, French or Brazilian matters not. Americans want American companies in charge of our airports and seaports. That's the issue.

9. You assume the people care about any of this.
I don't. If the people "cared", Bush would tossing cow chips on the ranch with Pickles instead of fucking up the entire world.
