John McCain is just another tool of the military-industrial complex that Bob Herbert wrote about today in his excellent Op-Ed. He has consistently advocated for a larger military and more troops in Iraq. Word is out that the RNC's Mehlman is going to raise $$ for his PAC, a sign that they are going to favor him for 2008. This, in my view, is a problem for us. Many Democrats, including my friend who HATES Republicans, LOVE John McCain. They think he is a straight-shooter, and a moderate.

Well...it appears that we need to get the word out. I called McCain's office when he was voting for Abu Gonzales for Atty General, and I asked why he was supporting torture, and his office was very testy with me. That is one point we should bring up. Also, his "Yes" vote on the bankruptcy bill, favoring corporations over individuals. And, his support for the Iraq War, his calls for more troops for Iraq, and his call to increase the size of the military. All of these views will go over with "Security Moms" like a pregnant high-jumper. Here are some links:
