I want to know what has happened to 2006. Doesn't anyone else see these media declared candidates for President are a distraction from what is real important for the Democrats - the 2006 election.

<snip>

The junior Senator from New York said she believed Rove, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman and other Republicans are focusing on her to divert attention from Republican problems as the 2006 congressional elections approach.

6. All the more reason the Dem's need to run on impeachment in 06.
Promise the people a double Bush/Cheney impeachment for 2006. That ought to get their attention.

7. Wow, a position from Hillary that is all her own and I agree with.

3. Media can't wait for the horse race
It's entertaining him vs her and none of that boring substance about ports and wiretapping and Iraq that just makes everyone unhappy and confused.

4. They decided it was Dean as the Dem front-runner, too
I only wish it had been.

I doubt seriously Hillary can even get the nomination. This is too crucial a race for the survival of our country and I suspect many women know too well how unlikely it is that a woman will be elected President anytime soon.

AOL POLL

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has suggested that putting more coalition troops on the ground would stabilize Iraq.

Do you think the U.S. should send more troops to Iraq?
No 74%
Yes 18%
Maybe 9%
Total Votes: 33,823

11. This is one issue to get McCain on along with the port issue,
his not defending his bill against torture from Bush's desired interpretation. And, Campaign Financing hasn't exactly been an overwhelming success. Oh, did I mention his short temper?

the Repugs and the media could predict the future.

Of course it's a distraction. The Repubicans are so deep in shit that they have no defense left except to draw strained analogies between what they did and what they claim the Democrats did. There was an article about some indicted Repug in which they mentioned he works with a Democrat who also wrote letters, then the article went on to detail the Repug crimes. ??? Fu k the media.

10. Well, "they" are in charge, aren't they?
I mean just looks at who gets media mention for '08 (they never report on '06) and you will see who they report in earnest and often:

Hillary
McCain
Warner
Condi Rice

Who they might mention in jest or when doing losta name dropping....
Feingold (as the new Dean)
Guiliani
Jeb
Obama
Bayh
Wilsack

Who they never, ever, ever mention:
Clark
Hagel

12. Frenchie - you were swayed by the media yourself
Edited on Mon Feb-27-06 04:54 PM by karynnj
You, like they, left out JOHN KERRY. :)

Also, Hagel's turn to be mentioned may have arrived. He was the cover story in the NYT magazine section - in a glowing positive article. (Better coverage than they have given any Democrat in years - certainly better than the snarky Kerry article from 2004. )
