Bill of RIghts Trading Cards |
|
So the Simpsons are better known than the Bill of Rights. Let's do something about it.
I formatted the ten Amendments to print on a single sheet of business card stock. Anyone who would like a copy can PM me. Let me know if you want it in Word or PDF format.
Better still, let us put together text and images for a set of trading cards. What shall we call them? Freedom cards, Democracy cards? Please offer suggestions. One side of the cards can be one of the amendments, the other can have a picture of one of our great political thinkers/activists such as Tom Paine or John Conyers with a brief description of their contributions and a quote or two.
We can make the sets available through the DU store, Cafe Press, or any other outlet that will carry them. Make them available to teachers at cost.
I am quite serious about this project and would like input from everyone for card content. You can posts ideas here, or PM me with images or other material.
In addition to the Bill of Rights, how about a card which defines "high crimes and misdemeanors?" Another card might discuss the Geneva conventions. Think about it.

1. Well, seeing as Monkeyboy is trading our liberty, our security, and our |
|
futures for cash for his pals and a few mangoes, it does seem like a fine idea.

Kid 1: "I'll trade you my freedom of religion for your freedom of speech." Kid 2: "Sure, I always go to church." Kid 1: "Ha ha, now you can't say anything that will make me made or you'll go to jail." Kid 2: "Well, I still have my right to bear arms. Bang, Bang, your dead and your going to Hell!"

3. How about the Four Freedoms? |
|
Along with the Bill of Rights, the Voting Rights Act, etc.
Don't restrict quotes to those from Americans - Ghandi, Mandela, etc.
Excellent idea.
Let me put on my thinking cap.
