Oil Spill in Alaska... Alaska’s Environment: Priceless
Alaska’s Environment: Priceless
March 10th, 2006 @ 5:07 pm

Those pesky Republicans who keep trying to push drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge should chew on this for a while…

Alaska’s North Slope sees its biggest oil spill

Alaska officials said on Friday that up to 267,000 gallons (6,357 barrels) of crude oil poured out of a pipeline at the Prudhoe Bay field, making it the largest oil spill ever recorded on the state’s North Slope.

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation estimated that a minimum of 201,000 gallons (4,785 barrels) spilled at Prudhoe Bay, the largest U.S. oil field.

{snip}

Just yesterday, I reported that John Kerry, Maria Cantwell and a coalition of Democratic Senators are fighting off another attempt to slip drilling in the Arctic Refuge into the latest budget process. Opponents of drilling in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge said “the Prudhoe Bay spill weakens claims that drilling and other operations could be conducted safely.”

2. That's just the committee vote
Hopefully when it comes to the full vote we'll save it again.
