NY Daily News New Yorkers think Clinton will run, don't back her

A piece in the NY Daily News said today that fully 6 in 10 people think Hillary Clinton will run for president, but only 3 in 10 New Yorkers will back her if she does. However, things are looking better for her reelection to the Senate. 58% say they will support her in that arena, while 36% say they prefer someone else. I know it's early, but these numbers are not good news no matter how you spin it.

I am pretty sure that Sharpton will be there. Oh lets see who else - Kucincich and maybe Leiberman. I suppose that if Gore and Kerry run again that she would be low man on the totem pole but unless they do I would vote for her over the others and I would never vote republican in the national.

I don't know what its standing is now, but 20 years ago it was the newspaper of choice in my family. I can clearly remember my father denouncing our county paper (Bergen, NJ), The Record, as right-leaning tripe. And my grandmother, who always, ALWAYS voted a straight Dem ticket, would only take the Daily News.

I don't believe, based on those numbers, that Hillary has a chance. Based on pollingreport.com, though, I don't think anyone but McCain really has a chance. At least it looks like his race to lose. It makes some sense. We already know a large percentage of the voting populace either is still a sucka or just recently changed from being a sucka, and McCain, as a repuke vet who likes campaign finance reform, should pull in both the suckas and some of the leftie types. It's a walk. Hillary doesn't even have that great of an approval rating amongst dems, and not one repuke in this country will vote for her.

By continuing to represent the people of New York, she can adopt more progressive stances and use her position in the Senate chamber to get more done than she could ever hope to achieve as president (having to face a hostile Republican congressional majority).

Let's suppose 6 in 10 NYers are Dems. That means half of the Dems would not support her for president. If those Dems vote against her for Senate (or stay home), she loses. And that's the end of this sad story.

She has no respect from me while she leaves open the possibility of a presidential run. As a Senator from New York, she could do a lot of good, but she is ruining it. It's not worth it to have her in the Senate for two years only to inflict disaster on our presidential hopes in '08.

runs for the democratic nomination for president and she wins it at the ballot box in the primaries, then all you that voted for someone else, you have two choices: 1. commit to working and voting for HRC or 2. stay your asses home and watch as another reprobate republican becomes elected. Then you all can come here on January 21, 2009 and start saying who is the best to win in 2012.....Hell, I think most of you know that Hillary is the better of all the candidates. What is it you all are afraid of? What is it? You think she cannot win? Unless the country does a 180 in the next two years she will be better able to win because as of now the country is fed the hell up with this republican president, and do you think the country is not ready for a woman president. Hell, this country is ready for someone to chart another course and make this country great again.....
