Avowed Racist Will Seek GOP Nod Against Party's Wish
....nine-term Rep. John Tanner’s strongly etched profile as one of the most conservative House Democrats — he is a founder of the coalition of Democratic fiscal conservatives known as the Blue Dogs — has made him invulnerable at the polls.

Tanner’s success has deeply complicated Republican efforts at candidate recruitment — so much so, that the party for the second consecutive election faces the prospect of an avowed “racist,” James L. Hart, laying claim to their 8th District nomination.

Hart, a former real estate broker, is an advocate of the theory of eugenics, which contends that human society can be improved through the use of selective breeding.

As the only Republican who filed to run for the seat in 2004, he received 8,227 votes in the primary — nearly 80 percent of the total, even though Republican officials

1. Personally, I hope he runs
in the primary and is defeated. It would be nice if we found out that a majority of Republicans in this district aren't racists. If he wins, we'll know otherwise, and we'll be able to use this information effectively in the general election, I think.

Funny how, when it's time to pick a party, racists go right to the Republicans.
