Am I misreading this situation: It feels extremely significant.... |
|
How many people, do you personally know, who could "out" a CIA agent and not be arrested within 20 minutes....
I think there are only two people in the country that would not be arrested......?
Any guesses who these two are?
Can We do a citizens arrest?
Why is this not buzzing through every conversation in the country. This is the a progression in Bush's impeachment proceedings!
The legal system somehow is not working right now for Bush and Cheney? They have every system in the country working for them except this one.
Pubs must be praying for a miracle right now.....

I keep wondering that myself. I am also starting to wonder if there is something "in the water" that keeps Americans from acting. IT's as if we're paralyzed or something.
Maybe all that TV?

3. We don't have proof yet. Libby has not admitted to outing Plame. |
|
Only to releasing information to undercut Wilson's op. ed. I made the same mistake on another posting. :(

if we tried to do a citizens arrest, and uphold the law, WE'D be arrested by the SS, FBI, CIA, whichever group. Regardless of the legitimacy of our actions. I've rarely felt so helpless as I do watching this administration get away with all that they have done.

7. The Pres. hasn't had Sex with that women: |
|
Did Pres. Bu$h have sex with Valerie and did he then lie about it to a Grand Jury? Well then what has he done so wrong? This is how most Repukes see all of this?

8. This is the essence of civil disobedience. Imagine if you had a million |
|
people working on this one legal justification.
I imagine people trying to arrest Bush "literally and figuratively."
After being arrested, when you got into court, you would explain this constitutional legal justification for citizen arrest and force the issue into the court system. Each person can claim this justification even upon a ruling against it....In other words exercising civil disobedience at each level of the judicial process....
Now We just need an actual wording for the argument itself?

9. Someone had to tell someone else that Plame was an agent |
|
That's information that should have been on a strictly "need to know" basis. Bush, Cheney, Rove and Libbey should never have come across that information in the normal course of events; someone else had to dig it out for them.

13. It had to be someone inside the CIA |
|
Someone handed the information up the line. I don't doubt that the four I named were the eventual leakers, but the trail goes back into the Agency.

11. What I don't get is you get these supposed legal experts that stand |
|
up and say, " yeh what Bush did could be legal but it is odd" How do we know it is legal. We know that it was done as retribution against a wistleblower so it really is not legal.... Or, waite I just checked I'm not a legal expert... sorry...

14. I don't understand why dems have not capitalized on this |
|
Regardless of whom leaked it and how it was leaked..IT WAS LEAKED! I didn't KNOW that Valerie Plame was a NOC. Did you ? Obviously, very few people did. Her cover was deep and so was Brewster Jennings. THIS IS THE PERFECT National Security issue..and I don't understand WHY the dems were not more vocal and outraged. This ruined 20 years of CIA work....and at the worst time possible

20. They need the campaign funds to get reelected. There are actual very |
|
few companies putting in most of the election dollars. They run the country. They tell Dems and Pubs what to do. "You do as we say, or you don't get any campaign dollars." No $; no reelection. What would you do?

17. Please note the quote below: |
|
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1151AP_Leak_Politics.html?source=mypi"And there was nothing in the legal papers filed by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald to suggest Bush or Cheney did anything illegal, or had specifically authorized Libby to identify Plame."

18. Its still a progression of events. Lawyers don't reveal all their cards |
|
at once. They build the argument step by step to reach a conclusion. I don't think that the "right to declassify, presidential prerogative" argument, in this instance, is going to hold up in court "Wide latitude" was the wording, not all latititude....
