6. You might as well call for a boycott of the sun
GE has it's filthy mitts in everything. Hardly a day goes by that you don't do SOMETHING that benefits GE. What are you gonna do, not by a GE fridge? So, they make the parts for other fridges. Or the chemicals that go into fridges. Or they finance the people that sell the fridges. Or the insure the people who finance the people who sell the fridges.

11. Not necessarily. Wal-Mart is the world's largest retailer
and they are getting their asses kicked with negative publicity and by activists who are keeping the pressure on the company and elected ones. So far they have responded with more lies and insincerity but they are starting to feel the heat.

Where are you getting this? MSNBC is merely a partnership between Microsoft and NBC. NBC is still NBC, owned by GE. MSNBC is actually even WORSE than vanilla NBC because it involves the other great Satan of the corporate world, Microsoft.

Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 01:20 AM by SeveneightyWhoa
In my estimation.

You're going to have to stop flying in planes. All of them. Their engines are made by GE.

Stop entering lighted buildings. Their lightbulbs are made by GE.

Stop using electricity. Generators and nuclear reactors are made by GE.

Hell, exit the capitalist system, period. Go live in a shack. It's the only way a boycott of capitalism -- er, General Electric -- will succeed.

Now, I'd love to stop bugging you. Just tell me WHY I should boycott GE and I'll stop infringing on your sacred threads. It seems to me that their are bigger demons to go after, starting with, say, Exxon Mobil, a company that truly IS causing damage.

48. That's because Wal-Mart is a very boycott-able company.
It's really not hard to just simply stop entering their stores. With GE, it's not nearly as easy.

How about going after a company truly causing harm? How about going after companies that engaged in secret meetings with Dick Cheney? Companies paying to spread propaganda and disinformation attempting to discredit global warming facts?

You know, a company like Exxon Mobil? There's a boycott worth fighting for.

22. To effectively boycott GE
..you'd have to go climb in a hole and never come out.

Basically, commit yourself to never entering a facility that uses lightbulbs. Never fly in an airplane again (since GE makes airplane engines). Etc.

Of all the corporations to "boycott", GE would likely be the toughest.

I'm not going to remove things from my life as some trickle up symbol of my displeasure with General Electric. I can register my disdain a hundred other ways that are more productive.

Obtuse boycotts have never made sense to me, especially when they have no hope of registering on the economic or political meter.

boycotting NBC/MSNBC/CNBC advertisers, on the other hand, will. If you really want to impact their pocketbooks, that's where you go. GE owns NBC Universal, but their money is essentially separate. Go for the advertisers.

I've asked you multiple times WHY you're making these threads. You avoid the issue completely every time.

So how much is GE paying you to make a joke of GE boycotts? I ask this because you can't possibly be serious. Nobody actually trying to organize a boycott gives ZERO reasons for doing it, and then evades ALL questions regarding motives or corporate evils/crimes.

"Use your head man!" Damn dude, you should make a "Boycott GE!!!" website with no content on it except for that statement. You'll gain a lot of support.

I can see it now..

Why should you boycott GE?
--JUST THINK ABOUT IT!!
So what makes GE a company worth boycotting?
--USE YOUR FRICKIN' HEAD!! IT'S OBVIOUS!!
Hmm, will this really work?
--WE HAVE NO USE FOR CYNICS!! IF YOU ASK QUESTIONS, WE HAVE NO PURPOSE FOR YOUR TYPE!!
Will boycotting GE lead to a Democratic majority in Congress and the Senate?
